Fukurou 534 Posted May 23, 2005 (edited) I guess it's tradition for someone to ask this question... Chain Gang - Another Day 1 loser. I did win this game once (Nagoya July 2003, winning on Day 7)... I'm not asking to win it again, but it would be nice to do better than "1 and done" :-P UDH - Perfectly awful doesn't begin to describe it. My lineup included Tokitsuumi (3-12), Kaiho (4-11), Tosanoumi (4-11), Kaio (5-10), and Tamanoshima (5-10), and I still spent the entire tournament at 0-15. End result was a 1-14 record (128th out of 143 players) and demotion from J9 to J10. ;-) Hoshitori - I pulled up to 5-10 on the last day (119th out of 189 players), resulting in a demotion from M13 to J1. Ordinarily I'd also be pulling my hair out, but it's not too awful, considering I spent most of the tournament in 0-15/1-14 territory. (Just do not get it...) Sekitori Toto - I started 1-4, pulled up to 5-4, fell back to 5-8, and finished 7-8, winning Day 9 along the way (I hate losing streaks). Demotion from Ms28W is most likely. :'-( Rotosumo - 142 points on Day 12 (winning all but 1 match, that in Juryo) saved me. I finished at 8-7 in the Juryo division (11th of 28), and will likely be promoted from J5E. :-) ISP - After a 1-5 start I got my KK on Day 15. Will probably be promoted from J9W. :-S Maybe I really should consider a shikona change... Edited May 23, 2005 by Fukurou
Zeokage 0 Posted May 23, 2005 (edited) Almost missed a few deadlines this time around as well. Ended missing up to 5 days again through the tournament, what made some of them worse is that if I had been able to enter some of those days, I would have correctly guessed where I officially got them wrong through defaults. Daily Games Aim For Yokozuna (Normal): 8-4-3 from Makushita in this one. Better than the 3-7-5 I got last time. Banzai: 3-8-4 in what I think is a very hard game if you don't really know the traits/styles of too many rikishi. Still fun to try and imagine the matchups though. Banzuke Surfing: Went with a Yamato board, and surfed to a 3-4. Not sure if that could end up being a promotion from jd111w though. Either way it went badly. Chain Gang: Went out on day 4 with my default... Tochisakae. Typical luck there... two basho in a row I've gone out on the default. Bench Sumo: Had a couple of days where I droned when I really wanted to play, but ended up with a Sandanme Jun-Yusho with 11-4. Somehow managed to get my first two ganbare lineups as well after, what... 4/5 basho? Need to check/update my records. Tip-Spiel: Again 0-7... I don't think the missed days would have made a difference though. Hashiweb Yoso: 7-3-5 and cursing my luck last basho, this time it's 8-4-3. Got to get in contact with the people who run this game though about my shikona change. S4: 5-6-4, and I think it's about time I stop trying not to use people certain to get a decent record. ISP: And in this game I have to stop thinking about who I want to win. Final day choice of Azuma (it says default, but I think I went in and picked him after the deadline anyway) because I wanted him to win sealed the MK... 7-8. Troll Game: 5-10, and a trip to Juryo next time around... hopefully I'll be able to actually keep an eye on deadlines etc next time. Toto: 3-8-4, definately not my best game when I'm there for all the days, and even worse now. Sumo Game: Still to break the 100 points in a basho but still managed to get my highest points total ever after 5 basho. Still ended with 7-8 as the days missed might have had an effect. Trio: 4-6-5... a little disappointing considering I did better in the other games that are similar. Yoso Taikai: This being one of those games... 9-4-2. Pre-Basho Games: Aim For Yokozuna (Revival): Still not totally sure how this works, but seems I got an 8-6 from the two rikishi I picked. Aim For Yokozuna (Difficult): Took a long time to fill this out, and I'm still not sure how it works, but I managed to get an 8-7 out of it in my first go. Cibersumo: 70th on the list of heya, the three records turned out to be 5-2, 3-4 and 2-5. Fantasy Sumo: 7th overall (no idea how...) I'll work out what record this should be later. GISP: 86 points, most points I've ever managed to get in this game, but I'm further behind the leader than the time I got 84 points. Guess the Kotomitsuki: Can't see the results anywhere... but it can't have been good. Hoshitori: 4-11 from Komusubi West will mean a huge drop. Probably just averaging out the 13-2 I got last time. Juryo Game: 3-4 in this one. Kumi: Surprise of the basho here, Juryo Yusho! 14-1. SalaryCap Sumo: Trying to avoid using Asashoryu is showing it's problems as I ended near the bottom of the table. Hayateumi going kyujo and Kisenosato not doing as well as I thought he would didn't help either. Sekitori Oracle: 6-9. Back to normal here after a good performance last basho. UDH: Following what I did in the normal Hoshitori last basho, 12-3. Will I totally mess it up again next time like I did in Hoshitori this time? Yoso: Normal performance here, 3-12. Japanese GISP: I'm sure I entered this one, but I can't find the page with the results. Yoso King Games: Paper Oyakata: I know I entered this game, but it seems my application wasn't entered somehow. Maybe I missed the deadline... Norizou Cup: 7-8 which is 13/30 in Makushita, maybe I'll still get a small promotion out of this... Taka G1 Game: 10-5 from right at the bottom of Juryo. Taka G1 Quiz: I think the results are still being worked out... Banzuke Guessing Games: GTB: 6-9, which is probably what I'm supposed to be getting... Norizo Yoban: Still can't find the results of the last basho... Neo Yoban: Still can't find the results of the last basho... Games Missed: Guess the Result Paper Oyakata... apparantly Overall, 10 KKs and 18 MKs with 4 games not sure... add a Jun Yusho and a Yusho to that and it's been a decent basho for me with a few disappointments. Edited May 23, 2005 by Zeokage
Jesinofuji 11 Posted May 23, 2005 (edited) Norizo cup: 82nd out of 97 Not exactly a good score. Hopefully I can rebound next basho. Kumi: 3rd out of 28 in Makushita From Ms 11 could we get a Juyro promotion...not likely. Yoso: Juryo Yusho (In a state of confusion...) highest overall point total of all entries. Picking Asashoryu to zensho in every sumo game every basho has its advantages. Juryo game: 55th place out of 132 entries from J11. A KK. Not a Makuushi promotion, but its getting closer. Hoshitori: 4-11 from Sekiwake Dropping down the banzuke. Ozeki dream is still a dream. UDH: 8-7 from M1 Secures Sanyaku promotion to Kw. Traditionally this has been one of my worst games. I'm glad to finally be able to accomplish something. Rotosumo: 5-2 frpm Ms6w A possible Juryo promotion with banzuke luck. GISP: A total score of 74 :'-( Normally I do well in this game. Not this time. Salarycap Sumo: (I am not worthy...) Makuuchi Yusho My 2nd in 3 basho. I hope its enough for Ozeki promotion Bench Sumo: Deadline too early. Chain Gang: Out on day 3 My firts time making it past day 1 in a long time. ISP: 0-6-9 I should remember to make my picks. Overall not a bad basho for my Sumogames. 1 Makuuchi Yusho, and 1 Juryou that was the best score in the game. (Applauding...) Itachi 395 Posted May 24, 2005 This wasn't the best tournament for me but here's the story. I play only 2 daily games now which is all I really have time for. In Benchsumo I was horrible going 5-10 (though I did lose on the bench a bit and also lost when scoring well a few times but honestly, my team did poorly and I with them). I should stay in Juryo but I can't remember being ranked a low as I will be next tournament! In Sekitoto I was right up there in the yusho race until the last five days when I lost 4 of 5 and finished 10-5. I think I'm already komusubi so I might just advance but maybe not. I played 4 pre-basho games - one perhaps for the last time. In the Juryo game I mercifully received kk despite a poor 109 point effort. I've been a bit mediocre since being promoted to Ozeki - sorry everyone. In Guess the Yusho Winners I guessed wrong mostly but not far wrong on most of them so I ended up with 69 points - good enough for a 4th place tie in Juryo and 6th place tie amongst sekitori (all 20 of us). Not great but not bad - though the drone scored 66. In Banzuke Surfing, I did as well as I could I think. I would never have thought to select 7-0 Kadomoto so 6-1 Sawaii's performance is just fine by me. Oshirokita started higher and picked a 6-1 rikishi as well so he'll stay ahead. Zentoryu picked Sawaii as a joker and may or may not stay ahead of me with the 5-2 sandanme pick. In other words I finished in a tie for 2nd or in third depending on the banzuke luck which we'll have to wait for. The last game I played was SalaryCap Sumo. I enjoyed deciding on my picks but for the second tournament in a row, I am a meta-UDH all-star. I don't recall how poorly I did last time but I'm ranked pretty low and this tournament I scored only 829 which is third lowest over all divisions and (somehow) second worst in my own Makushita division. I can't get any worse (or not much anyway) so perhaps I should try again but with all the other demands on my time (not to mention my pride) I am considering a Kitaoji manoeuvre. I look forward to reading about other forum member's exploits. Itachi

Azumashida 1 Posted May 24, 2005 Some of my results: Daily games: Kyujo everywhere except for the troll game: 9-6 there, I'm quite satisfied, I'm going to be 2nd on the banzuke next time and get to pick whoever is the 2nd best pick (of course I have no idea who that should be) Pre-basho games: (Showing respect...) : Pick the Yusho Winners : 3rd overall (13-2), promoted to sekiwake and, most importantly, to the unofficial title of "king of the game" (granted by the yusho winner this time around, Sekihiryu, thanks for that mate, and congrats! (In a state of confusion...) ) UDH : 3rd re-promotion to ozeki, with 11-4 (I have to say I've been quite lucky in my 3 Sz basho in that game!) Yoso : had a good lead until day 14, but finally finished 6th (11-4) (Holiday feeling...) : Hoshitori : was kadoban, was on the kachi-koshi side until day 13, and then fell down to 7-8 and then 6-9; hope I'll be as lucky as in the UDH... Doitsuyama 1,173 Posted May 24, 2005 Not that good of a basho game-wise. Some disasters, but also some top ten finishes. I'll rank the games by success, the best first: (Holiday feeling...) Hoshitori: 4th overall, 14-1. (Sign of approval) UDH: 13-2. Any kachi-koshi is welcome if you are kadoban, but 13-2 of course also can be a good starting point for more. Paper Oyakata: 4th overall, 12-3. Amazingly Gaijin-dominated basho. Maegashira-Spiel: 2nd. A good basho for a change. Sumo Game: 10-5, shared third place in Makuuchi (In a state of confusion...). One win less than 11-4 for Ozeki promotion. SalaryCap: 7th in Makuuchi, W-L unknown yet. Good Ozeki debut. CiberSumo: Doitsuyama 10-5 in Ozeki debut. My two sidekicks 4-11 and 5-2. Norizo-Cup: 10-5. Lucky promotion on the banzuke from J9 to Komusubi. I should stay in Sanyaku for another basho. Fantasy Sumo: 75th out of 208 players. Banzuke W-L record 10-5. Banzai: 10-5. Bench Sumo: 9-6. I didn't even win the gino-sho, tying the most points with Chijanofuji and Metzinowaka, actually LOSING because of a higher rank rule. Tippspiel: 14th overall of 116 players, 9-6. First half of Makuuchi was competitive like mad. GISP: 30th overall of 123 players. Yoso: 9-6 in the Sanyaku debut basho. Gino-sho. Pick the Yusho Winners: 9-6. Sekitori-Oracle: 9-6. No Ozeki-promotion last basho, and 9-6 isn't a good starting point either. Guess the Banzuke: 48th of 124 players, 8-7. Kumi: 11-4, Shukun-sho. Sekitori-Toto: 9-6. Just enough to keep the Ozeki East rank which is most important. (Showing respect...) Taka G1: 9-6. RotoSumo: 9-6, 9th in Makuuchi. Yosotaikai: 11-4. This is just above average actually... Taka Yoso: Should be 6-9, which probably is ok. No official results yet. Juryo Game: 5-10. Kasugao did me in here. Sekitori-Quadrumvirate: 5-10. I had no luck here this basho. ISP: 5-10. Zentoryu 154 Posted May 24, 2005 Rotosumo - 1427 points at ms17E (appears to be in the top 3rd of Makushita, so should be kachikoshi)Â B-) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> see here: http://www.sumoforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6249
Zentoryu 154 Posted May 24, 2005 (edited) Pretty good basho overall: All games played are pre-basho: Pick the Yusho winners 6 wins and 75 points, tied for second place among non-sekitori. (Sign of approval) Kumi After being below the KK/MK line for most of the basho, finished 11-4 as K1w. (You are going off-topic...) Juryo Game 3rd place finish in Makushita. 6-1 overall. My first really good performance in this game in a few basho. B-) Cibersumo Ms17e Amatsukaze 4-3, S29w Zentoriki 5-2 and Sd54e Zenfuji 1-6. Not too bad as I wasn't expecting Zenfuji to do well anyway. RotoSumo 9-6 from J5w. Not as good as last basho, but whenever I can avoid embarressing myself in my own game its cause to celebrate. :-) (Applauding...) (Sign of approval) B-) Banzuke Surfing My Pick Nakatani went 5-2, my Joker Sawai went 6-1. Not too bad, but I've lost my share first place and didn't really move up the banzuke all that much. That's the risk of picking someone so much further below your starting point. Will likely be in second or third next basho with hopes of being able to pick Sawai again. Asashosakari 18,968 Posted May 24, 2005 I've been in a bit of the headless chicken mode since senshuraku, but let's see how I did...looked mediocre as always from what I remember: Pre-Basho: Hoshitori: 9-6 and return to a sanyaku rank...could've been better, but then I have only myself to blame for picking Wakanosato and not Kotomitsuki. (You are going off-topic...) Well, let's try another run at the Ozeki rank for the rest of the year. UDH: 6-9 in my old nemesis of a game. Never really even close to KK during week 2. Slide down the banzuke continues. Rotosumo: As already hurray'ed elsewhere, I've finally broken my 3-4/4-3 run by going 5-2. Doesn't look like I'll derive much banzuke benefit from it though. PTYW: 72 points, 4th best result among sekitori and 12-3 record. Considering I'm one of only six players who picked MK rikishi for both Makushita slots (stupid default!), I'm very happy. Promotion to Makuuchi. Banzuke Surfing: One of my two picks did exactly what he was supposed to do, namely go 6-1 and get me into Sandanme. Lost some more ground to the leaders, but I don't think it matters much yet, given that the game's showdown won't even start until the frontrunners hit high Makushita. Seki-Oracle: 7-8 in Makuuchi, second consecutive. Nothing out of the ordinary here, considering the strength of the division. Salarycap: Barely missed kachi-koshi in Makushita, in what seems to become my usual performance in the game. If only Azuma had won on sensharaku and grabbed a share of the jun-yusho... Daily: Chaingang: Out on day 1, in what, distressingly, also seems to become my usual performance. :-) I actually used to be semi-good at this (even without excessive Asashoryu picking), but no longer. Sekitoto: 8-7, and exorcised the make-koshi demons from January. Crappy start at 2-4, then things turned around. Seki-Quad: 9-6, third consecutive. I'd really love to score double-digits in this game sometime, but for now I'll take the steady climb up the banzuke, especially given that there are usually more MK than KK. Looks like promotion to Makuuchi here (right, Max? B-)), one year behind schedule.
ragerkawa 0 Posted May 25, 2005 I'm just a beginning gamer, and I played only two games this basho. In Rotosumo, as jk21E, in my first try I scored 4-3. In chaingang, I went out on day four. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've survived the first day. Next basho I'll be away from my computer, so I don't think I'll play any games, but I might try GTB. Thanks to everyone who runs the games and provides all the fun opportunities. ragerkawa (John)
AsaMoe 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Only short (i think people wont read it anyway). 5 of 5 daily games with kk (Being thrown tomatoes at...) A Hoshitori so bad, that it would have made a good UDH guess. This 1-14 ends my first Ozeki run very abruptly. :'-( ( but it also shows, that Hoshitori does involve knowledge in sumo and not only luck ) All other pre-basho games were based on hoshitori and were, i do not know the reason, at the mk/kk boundary. Tomitsuki 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Take a look at my results in sumogames. (Being thrown tomatoes at...)
_the_mind_ 0 Posted May 26, 2005 well for me i only play 3 games RotoSumo- this was my first time but i was the runner-up(2nd place) in the bottom division 6-1 record Fantasy Sumo- tied for 28th place with 107 points, im not exactly sure what my record is though in that game. Salary Cap Sumo- 7th place in makushita (first time playing this one also) 1839 points. i had roho in all 3 games, he hurt me bad by not getting KK or i would have done alot better in all 3 games. Kitakachiyama 9 Posted May 27, 2005 It wasn't bad basho for me, but it could be much better with 8 more points in RotoSumo. Hoshitori: 13-2 and possible all-time record for days without yusho or sansho bonuses (day 12, 150 pts) :-) Bench Sumo: 8-7, KK secured on the senshuraku (my first ever 10-winners day on day 12) Sumo Game: the same as BS Sekitori-Toto: 8-7 again, but 8th win on day 14 Rotosumo: 7-8 and just under the line :-) Bad luck, does gino-sho count when I am MK? (also on day 12, what a day it was!)
Zentoryu 154 Posted May 27, 2005 Rotosumo: 7-8 and just under the line (Sigh...)Â Bad luck, does gino-sho count when I am MK? (also on day 12, what a day it was!) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The rules state that only the players who have their KK can win a prize. So unfortunately, Leonishiki captured the Makuuchi Gino-sho.
