Jan 0 Posted April 22, 2005 (Eh?) Hi, After lurking for ages I thought I'd say Hello. I first saw Sumo on C4 years ago, then rediscovered it via Eurosport (sadly British Eurosport) about 8 years ago with my very small son. We followed Terao :-P and now follow all the Shikoroyama rikishi, fingers crossed Homasho will soon rise high enough that his bouts will hit the Videos. I don't speak Japanese so don't have a shikona, couldn't think of anything appropriate anyway! Take care, Jan
Fujisan 500 Posted April 22, 2005 Hi Jan- Nice to hear from a sumo fan not too far from me-Which part of Yorkshire are you from? In case you dont know I live near Grimsby on the eastern side of England and like you I have been robbed of my Television sumo by British eurosport (Censored) Anyway welcome aboard, chuck in you salt and join the verbal tachai. Jan 0 Posted April 22, 2005 Hi, I'm in Halifax at the moment. I've family in and around Grimsby/Scunny & Barton. British Eurosport say they have no plans to show sumo this year. Maybe UK sumo fans should bombard them with emails or something. Take care, Jan
Kashunowaka 269 Posted April 22, 2005 (edited) I don't speak Japanese so don't have a shikona, couldn't think of anything appropriate anyway! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most of us don't speak Japanese, so that's no obstacle ... :-) Welcome! By the way - is Jan a girl's name or a boy's name? Edited April 22, 2005 by Kashunowaka

Jan 0 Posted April 23, 2005 Hi, I'm a female Jan, short for Janet. Hi John, Jim's not great at the minute, back to hosp next Friday but we'll rear him. Take care, Jan
Kashunowaka 269 Posted April 23, 2005 Hi, I'm a female Jan, short for Janet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what I guessed. And the :-) Terao thing kind of gave it away ... Jan is such a common male name in some parts of Europe (including here in Sweden) so I thought I'd ask. (In a state of confusion...)
Burainoan 0 Posted April 25, 2005 (edited) I don't speak Japanese so don't have a shikona, couldn't think of anything appropriate anyway! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Welcome! If you'd like a shikona, head on over to the Japan-related forum. there're some very helpful people on there who might be able to help you come up with something good. best i can think of is something like "snake-peak-climb" for "Janeto," but i'm sure a native could do better.... as for TV, if you have broadband and the Windows Media Player, you can do streaming, so cheap cable companies need not be an obstacle. anyway, always glad to have another lurker join the fun!
