Zentoryu 154 Posted March 27, 2005 (edited) The final standings are in the next post down... MAKUUCHI: A highly unusual occurance in the top division as both Heruwejima and Ookihito finished tied for 1st place. Not only were their final point totals identical, so were their teams. This means that none of the traditional tie-breakers could be applied to this situation and I am left with the only option of declaring both of them Co-Yusho winners. So congratulations to both Heruwejima and Ookihito. I will try and come up with a tiebreaker that can be used if this situation ever arises again. Of our five Ozeki, Ulsimitsuki and Kintamayama led the way with fine 11-4 records, followed by Hamanoyama at 10-5 and Maguroyama at 9-6. Yubiquitoyama was not so fortunate as he finished only 2-13 and will be kadoban next basho. There could be as many as 6 or 7 demotions to Juryo this basho. It should be interesting to see how the new banzuke develops. JURYO: Zentoryu won the battle of the dueling J13's on the final day (yeah me!). Tominishiki settles for the Jun-Yusho. This is Zentoryu's first ever Yusho in the game that he created. It's about time. :-) Gusoyama, Charliki, Takashoryu, Marionoumi and Gunterao are the leading candidates for promotion to Makuuchi. While Dejimasama, Aabatoba, Taka, Ginkgo and Shayoto appear certain for demotion back to Makushita. MAKUSHITA: Onigashima outlasts the rest of the field to capture the Makushita Yusho. The Ms1e will also visit Juryo next basho. Budinishiki, Mariotoki and Tomitsuki join Onigashima as the leading promotees to Juryo, with Hakanonami having an outside shot if there are enough demotions from above. JONOKUCHI: Harlegawa dominated the Jonokuchi division nearly from start to end, finishing more than 100 points ahead of second place Nikioshu. The Jk1w will see a big jump up the banzuke to high Makushita for next basho. Once again, baring any surprises, most everyone with a KK should end up at least at the tail end of Makushita. Guest Onigashima Posted March 30, 2005 I must admit, I am embarrassingly pleased by my first Makushita Yusho. It is my first at any game at any level, and I will do my best to do hazukashikunai sumo as a sekitori. Arigatou gozaimasu to those who run this fun game. (Cloverleaf...) Zentoryu 154 Posted April 6, 2005 Just a brief note. Since I've received a couple of inquiries... The new banzuke is done and has been since Saturday. But I've been sick for the last several days and haven't really felt like sitting in front of the computer and doing the formatting neccessary for posting it to the mailing list (as well as here). As soon as I feel well enough (and I can think straight again) I will get it posted, hopefully by the end of the week.
