Yup I'm setting myself up for possible taunting here (Whistling...) but YES I really do see this happening. Or AT LEAST pretty likely to happen...

Did I say pretty likely??? (Sign of disapproval) No excuse me here is what WILL happen: (Whistling...)

Asashoryu vs Kotooshu

Kotooshu and his long arms are so difficult to avoid and I predict that after he (and this is where the IF should have come in), by using his great athleticism weathers off Asashoryu's early barrage of a tsuki/oshi attack, will manage what few has this basho, get the Yokozuna's belt. Of course Asashoryu won't hesitate one bit because of that, and he will use his speed and power to immediatly, cause frankly against Osh you have to, launch a renewed attack, only this time from the belt....AND here is where the "miracle" will occur, he will force a little too much a little too soon and Osh will be skilled, athletic and powerful enough to throw down the Yokozuna and get kinboshi in his very first attempt.

Kaio vs Kotomitsuki

Here a Mickey victory quite simply IS very likely. He has a good record against Kaio. Kaio has an injury and is simply not doing very impressive sumo. To say the least.

Kotomitsuki in his mind, probably already has about 27 different ways to win this bout and my belief is that he will.

Chiyotaikai vs Iwakiyama

Last Basho I had no doubt whatsoever that Iwakiyama would crush the Ozeki. This time it's definately more open.

You only have to see Chiyotaikai's bouts against Tamanoshima the previous couple of bashos, and his impressive win over him this time around, to get a grasp of just how much better he is this Basho.

But Iwakiyama is simply a brute, especially with tsuki/oshi.

He actually is very reliable too. It always take SOMETHING to beat him. And it seems pretty rare, at least lately, that he turns in a poor performance.

And with his superiour strenght, good movement for such a big guy and not least the size advantages he possesses (think reach), I just see this as a bad matchup stylewise for Chiyotaika. And as the saying goes, "Styles make fights" and this one I think is very good for Iwakiyama.

I will certainly be very impressed if Chiyotaikai steamrolls Iwakiyama like he did Tamanoshima.

( (I was stupid...) )

Now vote people and feel free to share your thoughts as well but PLEASE no taunting if this all goes horrible wrong :-P ....I will pay the prize in the games if it does (yes I really am picking this....) and that's "punishment" enough! :-O

VOTE!!!!!!

if Asa avoids the henka that Kotooshu will pull, only the two Ozeki will fall.

i am not that confident though so i guess i will not follow you in the games ....

and don't forget Kaiho's jackpot tomorrow ... (Greedy...)

They will all win. Why is that not an option??

Good question! (Oops! )

I guess it goes under the "other" option then..

But all of them winning?? Impossible! :-O

Count the number of possible outcomes for three bouts and get back to me when you are done. :-O

The topic was "The Yokozuna and Ozeki all lose". I used the collective "they". I was looking for an "the Yokozuna and all Ozeki will win" option.

But you knew that... Or did you.. (I was stupid...)

People don't believe in miracles until they happen! Remember, Greece was not supposed to become European Champion and beat the Czech republic and Portugal but...

we've never beat Holland in the Euro ... you must mean Portugal or France.

anyway ... Kotooshu,Iwakiyama and Mikcey winning won't be THAT great a miracle ... it's sumo after all.

Miracles don`t happen... or was this prediction that Kotooshu will beat Asa the result of too much beer?

Nah and two out of three isn't too bad either, though not in any ways huge upsets, if upsets at all ,but yeah reading it now again, the Osh vs Asa bit is a bit of thin air.

Oh well ;-)

Sorry about the mistake, my memories of the EURO are getting dimmer, it seems, since I can't recall such simple facts (Arguing...) . Otherwise, the miracle of Kotooshu beating Asashyoryu did not happen today and the losses of Kaio and Chiyotaikai were not miracles at all, having in mind their previous records with their opponents ;-) .

Miracles do happen and the miracle of Kotooshu defeating the yokozuna is bound to happen this year. Otherwise, I can't really explain Kotooshu's nervousness against the yokozuna today (Arguing...) . He needs to adopt the attitude of "I don't care" which the two years younger than him Hakuho is displaying, or he is bound to not make it to the top ;-) .
