Spoiler experiment

Recommended Posts

Sorry for being late with this message.

I've been pondering about the spoiler issue ever since it was polled a month ago. There are several factors involved which unfortunately are partly antagonistic. No matter which decision I make, someone is bound to be justly opposed to it. Therefore I need to aim for the least opposed solution.

I've decided to hold an experiment during this imminent basho, Hatsu 2003. During this basho no spoilers are needed. You're free to discuss anything about the results, both those of the toriteki and the sekitori even in the Ozumo discussions subforum. If need be, I'll later move them to the spoiler subforum for archival purposes.

The biggest single source of uncertainty in this spoiler issue has naturally been lack of knowledge about the true number of people who would benefit from spoilers. They are undoubtedly in a minority on a forum like this where most (active) members participate anyway in various online sumo games and stay constantly updated about the results.

I agree with Zentoryu that the Polls subforum was prone to spoilers during a basho. That's why its description included a spoiler warning from the beginning but I admit it proved out to be somewhat lack-lustre solution.

I urge all those who support spoilers to be used on this forum in future to contact me at administrator@sumoforum.net or use the Email button below. This waiver of spoilers can be cancelled for Haru 2003 in March but until further notice, spoilers are off.

Well, it wasn't an easy decision but now we have something to elaborate on.

Haru Basho 2003 is approaching and the time has come to make a decision in the spoiler issue. Since there were no complaints during Hatsu Basho about the waiver of spoilers, it has been easy for me to decide this practice will be continued from now on.

Therefore everything possible about the ongoing basho is free to be discussed on the Ozumo d
