Taizeniki 0 Posted December 9, 2004 Are there other english speaking jewish or christian rikishi who might appreciate a hanukka or christmas greeting? Kokkai, perhaps? If so, does someone have mailing addresses and/or email for them? Thanks Jonosuke-san for the thoughtful idea. (Christmas time...)

Jonosuke 28 Posted December 10, 2004 (edited) I just posted the heya addresses on this post. Find which heya a rikishi you want to write to belong from either Kintamayama's Foreigner's page or other rikishis from the Kyokai site and find the address from the list. Hope everyone who writes get a reply back. Edited December 10, 2004 by Jonosuke

Hakuyobaku 33 Posted December 10, 2004 You have to consider that Kokkai (well this is really an assuption since he might be of some other religion but its' higly unlikely, almost impossible) is Orthodox Christian, who celebrate Christmas on 7th of january. (well the new year is 14th, if you ask them) we call it "old" new year. Old style that is. This is not a purely orthodox Tradition since Greek Orthodox church switched it to 25th now. Bah, religion. Manekineko 200 Posted December 10, 2004 Julian calendar vs Gregorian. Most Orthodox Christian churches still celebrate all holidays according to the Julian calendar, which indeed lags two weeks after the usual date. In fact, they also celebrate Christmas on 25th of December, only that 25th Dec of Julian calendar is 7th Jan of Gregorian calendar. ;-)

Hakuyobaku 33 Posted December 10, 2004 And the book he is holding on his face - That is Rustaveli, 12th century Georgian writer, his poem "Vephistkosani" (A knight in Panther's skin) brought him fame - he is considered one of the most influential humanists of time and easily the biggest figure in Georgian literature.
