Randomitsuki 2,912 Posted September 29 Hi! You can find the results of the Aki 2025 Masters Series here (permalink). With more than 20 points distance to the runner-up, Kaito wins his fourth Green Mawashi with relative ease. Yusho performances in Tipspiel and ISP laid the foundation, double digits in Hoshitori Game and RotoSumo secured the Green Mawashi, and small change in four other games was the icing on the cake. The shukun-sho goes to Oskanohana (his fifth) for winning the co-yusho in Ozumo Bingo Game and having two more games (Tippspiel, ISP) in double digits. That very same performance also barely gave Oskanohana his third career gino-sho with a nice, high-level balance between daily and pre-basho games. Hakumadashi is quite new to sumo gaming and had a breakout basho. Being second overall and having a strong pre-basho/daily balance turned Hakumadashi into a contestant for both shukun-sho and gino-sho, but finishing among the Top 10 in eight games finally did the trick of yielding the kanto-sho. Congratulation to all the winners! Also updated: the standings of the 2025 World Championships. Pandaazuma stays in the lead, but Unkonoyama, Andoreasu, and DeRosa are very strong contestants this year. Flohru, Kaito, and Oskahanada are likely needing a Green Mawashi to vie for the title. Another 10-15 players are likely to need a triple-digit Green Mawashi performance to exert pressure on the Panda, but such things have happened in the past.
Hakumadashi 15 Posted September 29 (edited) I’ll certainly take 2nd place and a Sansho for my 2nd Superbanzuke Basho! Hope it doesn’t set my own expectations too highly for the future… well done to Kaito and Oskahanada! Edit: I would've complained about how Hoshoryu losing the Playoff cost me the Yusho in SalaryCap, and how only a couple of bouts in some other games could've also win me a game given how many I finished in the Top 10, but Kaito has such an impressive points total that it - atleast for the Masters - wouldn't have made a difference. Kaito 327 Posted September 29 Pretty stoked overall, but I just realized Ura losing to Hakuoho on the final day, cost me a lot of points across all the games. I think more than 20. TTT was unfortunate too. It felt the yusho was right there in front of me for the whole 2nd half but I couldn't manage a single win, and of course Panic ended up pulling away, winning with unique picks over and over. Still, I had plenty go my way. Really happy to check ISP and Tippspiel yusho off my list. I've been horrific at Tippspiel for years, but I've been on a hot streak there lately. I've had a surprising amount of chances to yusho ISP before, but I've always needed to pick the underdog on the last day, and it's never hit. With so many players, you never know when you'll get another chance.
Ganzohnesushi 548 Posted September 29 Poor, poor performance in all games. The only highlight was Seki-Toto where I was kadoban after Nagoya and 2-6 on Nakabi. 7 straight wins in week 2 saved my rank. Managed two donuts in a row in Tippspiel. In Sumo Game I grabbed three KInboshi but finished 6-9 only. And after Nagoya's convincing 14-1Y in Seki-Quad I started week one with a frustrating 0-7. Zilch. Xiongmao 25 Posted September 30 Thanks as always, Rando. I still can't give reactions to posts so will say it here. And congratulations to Kaito on a fine performance. He read prebasho very well and also performed superbly in the dailies. Virtuoso stuff.
Kintamayama 47,369 Posted September 30 Doesn't 10th place in Norizo Cup give me a 0.5 or something?
Asashosakari 20,297 Posted September 30 Yeah, something looks off with NC. The shared points for 6th through 10th place seem to have been allotted to the player who finished 5th plus four of the five players who tied for 11th-15th, among several oddities. Were the results revised?
Kajiyanosho 70 Posted September 30 Congrats everyone! A great basho to watch. I'm disappointed by my bad pre-basho choices: overestimated how well Daieisho, Fujinokawa and Kusano could have done. Disappointing to have missed some ISP points on the day when sites didn't work, but very happy for my first Bench ones! Now let's hope I finally make it to the top 10 after November! Were the results revised? Pretty much looks like that. All points awarded by me (except for the yusho) now differ from the official standings. I have recomputed the stats - no immediate implications for the Masters (yusho or sansho), and in the World Championship race Pandaazuma's leading margin will be even smaller than before. I am still waiting for a mugshot of @Hakumadashi, and then I will upload the standings again.
Randomitsuki 2,912 Posted October 12 I finally managed to update the standings. Fun fact going into the last basho: Unkonoyama even overtook Pandaazuma in the World Championship! His leading margin: 0.16 points! That will be an exciting Kyushu tournament, game-wise.
