Akinomaki Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 Today he was at the talk event in the sumo museum - Takakeisho is following the path of his former shisho after intai: down from 170 to 130 now, slimming down from basho to basho oo o o o o he's also more and more looking like Taka oooo 4
MrGrumpyGills Posted May 15 Posted May 15 That has to be one of the most impressive transformations I've ever seen, he looks so young now too and quite handsome. Almost didn't recognize him. 2
rokudenashi Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Looks like he's had that facial hair removal surgery you see advertised on every subway train in the cities, either that or a very sharp razor blade
Oortael Posted May 15 Posted May 15 And now his arms fit his body type. Could probably put his hands in his pockets, tho I wouldnt bet on it just yet. 1
Jakusotsu Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Now we know what Enho could look like if he was eating his share. 7
dingo Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Wow, if I didn't know I would actually hardly recognise him. Very impressive transformation, I suppose it's quite fitting for his character. He made ozeki and almost yokozuna by sheer willpower. No wonder he can slim down with great results if he focuses his willpower on that goal now. 2
I am the Yokozuna Posted May 16 Posted May 16 A normal, healthy, 28 year old Japanese man. Could/should be a poster boy for various PR activities of the JSA in the coming years. By the way is Ozempic sold in Japan?
dingo Posted May 16 Posted May 16 33 minutes ago, I am the Yokozuna said: By the way is Ozempic sold in Japan? Quick Google says it is, although not officially approved for weight loss but still used for that purpose as well. With that in mind perhaps the weight loss is a bit less impressive...
I am the Yokozuna Posted May 16 Posted May 16 My point is that if it is legal, the JSA should distribute it to all rikishis that retire out of consideration for their healthcare. Saw pictures of Goeido and Hakuho recently - frankly they had not shed much weight and it is not OK long term if they stay like that. 2

Kintamayama Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Ex-Takakeisho (Minatogawa Oyakata (29) said goodbye to his mage today. The "Takakeishou Retirement Minatogawa Name-Taking Grand Sumo Tournament" was held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. Following the Juryo bouts, a hair-cutting ceremony was held in the afternoon, with approximately 300 people, including composer Tokura Shunichi, a member of the Yokozuna Deliberation Committee, and Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko, cutting his hair. Watched by a sold-out crowd, with tickets sold out in advance, more than 11 years after his dohyo debut, Minatogawa said goodbye to his topknot with a set of scissors from his master, Tokiwayama (former komusubi Takamisugi). His Oyakata from his debut, former Yokozuna Takanohana Oyakata, was not in attendance. Minatogawa Oyakata never shed a tear throughout the ceremony. His new hairstyle features a bold shaved side, with the barber describing it as a "two-block, side-parted" style. Tokiwayama Oyakata, who came to watch the styling, repeatedly exclaimed, "It looks good," while his good friend and senior at Saitama Sakae High School, Maegashira Daieishou, called it "cool." Everyone praised the new hairstyle. When asked how he felt during the ceremony, Minatogawa expressed his gratitude, saying, "I felt truly happy. It's been a year since I retired, and everyone created a hanamichi for me to walk down for the last time. Thanks to everyone who came, it was a wonderful ceremony." He said he felt "refreshed" now that he no longer had his mage, comparing the fact that his hair had actually been shortened to his current mental state. "I was proud of my mage, and it was a symbol of being a rikishi. In my mind, I had it sorted out, but now that I look like this, I feel like 'it's completely over,'" he said, his calm tone revealing a hint of sadness. He had had his head shaved since he started sumo at the age of nine, and it had been about 20 years since he last had a real haircut. Finally, with his new hairstyle, he stepped onto the dohyo again, to thunderous applause. "I want to learn from both the younger rikishi and my seniors and do my best," he said, vowing to work hard as the youngest Oyakata in his 20s.
