Elsewhere I offered the half-serious theory a few weeks ago that the ridiculously small demotions we've been seeing the last few years are their attempt to have some sort of kosho replacement, the logic being that "MK = was more injured than the average rikishi" holds true in most cases these days.

I can't even think of a 6-9 non-demotion at any Makuuchi rank aside from one guy on the 2011 scandal banzuke.

No confirmation email, but 56 here I think. I was my own worst enemy. Flipped the S and K ranks. Flipped Kagayaki and Sadanoumi against the math...thought it was probably dumb at the time and definitely would've taken it back after the deadline. Tried reversing Hokutofuji/Nishikigi/Ryuden against the math too, so they'd all get reasonable demotions...I knew I didn't want to put Takayasu or Onokatsu above them and couldn't see Hokutofuji staying in place. But then I got Takayasu and Onokatsu the wrong way around anyway for 0. I was pretty sure about Shirokuma's placement at least.

GTB aside, I hate Nishikifuji holding rank.

Here are the results. As I said, crazy banzuke, and even nuttier results. For the first time ever, we have a winner due to an earlier entry.. Goshobiyama and CaptSmarta$$ have the exact same guess going into 17E. Both got that one wrong, as everyone, including the banzuke making committee, did. So by getting in the earlier entry, Goshobiyama gets his first yusho and in doing so is also at the top of the non-Banzuke. Congratulations!
