I'm quite surprised I got that right given that the only other matches that were right on my projection were Terunofuji-Kotozakura and Takakeisho-Shonannoumi. Does that just mean I got really lucky? Jejima 1,363 Posted July 27, 2024 New Banzuke for September 2024 Gurowake (YOE 11-4) YO Reonito (YOW 0-0-15) Sumo Spiffy (S1W 9-6) S1 Bunbukuchagama (S2E 8-7) Jakusotsu (S1E 7-8) S2 Profomisakari (S2W 6-8-1) Jejima (M1E 8-7) K1 Oshirokita (K1E Kosho) Ryoshishokunin (K1W Kosho) K2 Hakuhonofan (M1W 6-6-3) M1 Fashiriteta (M2E 6-8-1) WAKATAKE (M2W 3-10-2) M2 shimodahito (M3W 3-11-1) Athenayama (M3E 1-13-1) M3 The Kyokai (M4W 1-14) Banzuke-gai rokudenashi (M4E 0-0-15) Comments: We are greatly pleased that Gurowake, as the sole Yokozuna/Ozeki competing this basho has taken his responsibility seriously, and has won the Yusho in style. It is hoped that Reonito will be in action in September, so that we can have a contest between our two Yokozunas. Sumo Spiffy will be considered for promotion to Ozeki with an Ozeki Quality performance in September and/or at least a share of the jun-yusho.

Does that just mean I got really lucky? Or we all got unlucky. The only fight I got outside of those two was Meisei/Gonoyama. Presumably most of us went with the assumption Teru would win and render the yusho race over; in that case, I had Kirishima against Tobizaru and Daieisho against Takanosho. Since they not only didn't do that, but they broke Abi/Onosato to give Takanosho a "more appropriate" opponent (Daieisho should have been fine, but OK), several opponents for the guys at the top got bumped up another fight, which reduced the options for Ura further. But, to be honest, I thought it might be Takarafuji mostly on vibes. No matter how you lay it out, Tamawashi (if he lost), Nishikigi, Hokutofuji, and Takarafuji would all have been reasonable opponents in this situation. I leaned Takarafuji for no real reason other than Ura was the guy they put against Nishikifuji, and I figured if they knocked him down that far to find an opponent, maybe they'd keep looking lower rather than higher in the division.
