Does Isegahama have to allocate dohyo time slots for his expanded heya? 5 minutes 23 seconds per rikishi?

He can have evening & afternoon training sessions for some of the deshi, it is not unheard of.
Since they want all of the rikishi training under one heya, I supposed it would exclude sending some of the sandanme and jonokuchi veterans to Ajigawa & Asakayama to also beef up each other’s training.

Takerufuji has finally done some shiko. "It's going to be a last-minute decision.. The pain is still there. I feel I want to enter but entering while I'm not properly ready worries me.., " he said. "He is training while geared towards entering," said Isegahama Oyakata.

Asanoyama OTOH still can't do any shiko and it is not looking good.

Kirishima seems back in form as he was 16-1 today, training at Tokitsukaze beya against the likes of Mitakeumi, Shoudai, Nishikigi and Tokihayate. OTOH, he was looking great in training before Haru and we know how that ended. Two days ago he was still taped up and had neck pains. After receiving treatment, he seemed better today. It seems the pain was not from the neck, but from his shoulder area, and once he got that, he was not afraid to go head first at the tachiai, and go head-first he did. "He is feeling much better than two days ago- if he continues like this for three more days he should be good to go, "said Ex-Kakuryuu Oyakata. "It's been a while since my neck was in good shape, so I decided to go head-on today. If the pain really is gone, I'll be going all out from now on!" declared Kirishima.

He is ready to inherit Takayasu's Keiko Yokozuna mantle, I see.

Today Kirishima took part in the Tokitsukaze Ichimon rengo keiko held at the Kokugikan training institute and was 23-2.  6-2 against Daieishou and never lost another match.. 7-0 against Wakamotoharu, 3-0 against Shounannoumi,  2-0 against Nishikigi and Shoudai, and 1-0 against Tokihayate, Ryuuden and Juryo Kagayaki. The neck pain seems to have subsided. "I'm glad the pain is less and I'm able to hit hard, but I'm still not hitting as hard as I can.. I'll gradually get back to doing that," he announced. "Tomorrow, 30 bouts!" he promised.

Daieishou was 10-12 at said rengo keiko. "It was good keiko. ( he was the only one who beat Kirishima). I was able to do my own sumo there for some bouts.. I did get stopped and mawashied too- that does happen during a basho, so I need to cope with that," he said, referring to a bout against fellow pusher-thruster Tamawashi where they leaned onto each other awkwardly and attempted to grab each other's mawashi, totally out of their comfort zone, until Daieishou finally won by yorikiri.

Asanoyama restarted doing shiko stamping today at the heya, the oyakata says it's still too early to say he'll be kyujo, there are still some days left (till early morning of the 10th, before the torikumi compilation), but in the present state he can't enter.

Onosato trained with Kotozakura at degeiko to Sadogatake-beya today and overwhelmed him 6-2 - so far he lost the 2 times he met him at the basho and also at the soken on the 2nd. At this first training with Kotozakura again after the soken, Onosato was first 7-4 with Gonoyama and Kotoshoho. Kotozakura was 6-0 with Gonoyama.

They say Kotozakura was "not feeling well" (whatever it is supposed to mean).

Just out of and soon in kadoban again Takakeisho confirmed that he'll be at the basho, his pectoralis major muscle has healed. Today he was 7-3 with Takanosho at the heya. o

Onosato at the heya trained with Shirokuma - he also was 7-3. Tomorrow he'll rest and on the 10th and 11th focus on the basics.

The kyujo rikishi

Asanoyama

T72KWFJYOZN3NGX7FIIT4CFEIQ.jpgo20240509-OHT1I51113-N.jpgo

Takerufuji talked with standard kyujo Enho, who should be ready to enter this time

26HK3OPPYFJJDG6WSIADR5G5RY.jpgo

2 injured, on the brink of kyujo trained together: Terunofuji lent his chest to Hakuoho, 17 anma moves (not in our glossary - e-shiki.jp/ozumoyogo1.htm), at times it even looked like they were doing proper bouts

4.jpgo  20240509-OHT1I51301-N.jpgo  7AFEJPC4G5I65DSB4QDJL5T3DE.jpgo

Hakuoho first did 11 bouts with makushita, then some with Atamifuji, Midorifuji and Nishikifuji

Hoshoryu final preparations in shimekomi, with makushita

Yesterday degeiko meet at Tokitsukaze-beya - I hope Shodai won't be kyujo as well - he's the favourite to train with usually, but wasn't in the mix

Hokutofuji did 11 bouts with Daieisho, Nishikigi, Mitakeumi and Tokihayate

Kirishima didn't keep his promise: less instead of more, 30min. with 23 bouts: 7 with Daieisho, 8 with Nishikigi, 6 with again Daieisho and 2 with Tokihayate

20240509s00005000177000p_thum.jpgo

Daieisho did 29 bouts in all, first 16 with Hokutofuji, Nishikigi, Mitakeumi and Tokihayate, including 8 wins in a row

The Onamis at Arashio-beya, still aiming to become the first trio of sekitori brothers at the same time

Wakatakamoto (I have more problems with his shikona than with that of the youngest) is on the rise this year, 5-2, 6-1 - a kachikoshi gets him into the wider promotion zone again, he never was in the actual promotion zone till ms5

240509sport7010-thumb-300xauto-88659.jpg o

Wakamotoharu was at the Tokitsukaze-rengo-geiko and yesterday at degeiko to Shikoroyama-beya to train with Abi, on even par. He injured his back during the jungyo and couldn't do intense keiko, but has recovered by now

240509sport401-1-thumb-300xauto-88663.jp o

Wakatakakage's right knee has healed enough to allow him to train each day, injured at the Haru basho last year. That day he did the basics, basic moves like tachi-ai checks and lent his chest to the young ones
