Jejima 1,498 Posted May 30, 2024 Here we go... (Counter-balance teams in brackets).... No 'twins' this time (when a representative team is in the same group as its counterbalance team) - which is unusual for this game.... possibly a first? Group A Germany (Albania) Hungary (Denmark) Scotland (Netherlands) Switzerland (Austria) Group B Albania (Germany) Croatia (Ukraine) Italy (Czechia) Spain (Slovenia) Group C Denmark (Hungary) England (Georgia) Serbia (Turkiye) Slovenia (Spain) Group D Austria (Switzerland) France (Slovakia) Netherlands (Scotland) Poland (Belgium) Group E Belgium (Poland) Romania (Portugal) Slovakia (France) Ukraine (Croatia) Group F Czechia (Italy) Georgia (England) Portugal (Romania) Turkiye (Serbia)
Jejima 1,498 Posted May 30, 2024 Let's have a look at the first choice picks for the groups.... If there is a '1' by the country, and you selected it as your first choice pick, then you know it will be yours. Group A Germany (Albania) - 2 Hungary (Denmark) - 1 Scotland (Netherlands) - 1 Switzerland (Austria) - 2 This group will have first choice representative players for everyone. Group B Albania (Germany) Croatia (Ukraine) Italy (Czechia) - 1 Spain (Slovenia) This group will take time to fill! Group C Denmark (Hungary) - 1 England (Georgia) - 2 Serbia (Turkiye) Slovenia (Spain) - 1 What? Someone apart from me wants England? Group D Austria (Switzerland) - 1 France (Slovakia) - 2 Netherlands (Scotland) - 1 Poland (Belgium) This group will be half-filled shortly. Group E Belgium (Poland) Romania (Portugal) Slovakia (France) - 2 Ukraine (Croatia) Nobody has Belgium (with Poland as a decent counterbalance) as a first choice? That surprises me. Group F Czechia (Italy) - 1 Georgia (England) - 2 Portugal (Romania) - 4 Turkiye (Serbia) Portugal turns out to be the most popular choice for a representative team! That surprises me too. Jejima 1,498 Posted May 30, 2024 Let's fill in the uncontested team representations.... Group A Germany (Albania) - 2 Hungary (Denmark) - Nekonishiki Scotland (Netherlands) - Tanetakahiro Switzerland (Austria) - 2 Group A is half full already, and will be completely full after the next round of 'selections'. Group B Albania (Germany) Croatia (Ukraine) Italy (Czechia) - Jarayama Spain (Slovenia) My young nephew (son of jomojo), will have to wait awhile before he knows his opponents! Group C Denmark (Hungary) - Finngall England (Georgia) - 2 Serbia (Turkiye) Slovenia (Spain) - Achiyama Another group that is already half-full. Group D Austria (Switzerland) - Ganzohnesushi France (Slovakia) - 2 Netherlands (Scotland) - Ryoshishokunin Poland (Belgium) As is this one. Group E Belgium (Poland) Romania (Portugal) Slovakia (France) - 2 Ukraine (Croatia) Nothing to see here! Group F Czechia (Italy) - Bumbiachiyama Georgia (England) - 2 Portugal (Romania) - 4 Turkiye (Serbia) Bumbiachiyama starts the group off.
Jejima 1,498 Posted May 30, 2024 Now we will allocate the teams contested by 2 players. We will do the rolling using this die, as is the tradition..... First up is Germany, which is contested between jomojo (my older brother) and Kuma Koma (friend of Nekonishiki). jomojo gets 1, 2 and 3, kuma koma gets 4, 5 and 6.... It's a.... . . . . 6! Kuma Koma receives Germany. Switzerland next...... This is between Asapedroryu (1,2,3) and Jakusotsu (4,5,6). It's a. . . . . . . 6 (again) Jakusotsu claims Switzerland. Next is England. This is between my oldest son Baku (1,2,3) and me, Jejima (4,5,6)... It's a.... . . . . . 1. BOOOO! Oh well, Baku will be 'England'. Now, it's France, between Djodjoyoshi (1,2,3) and my youngest son Kaba (4,5,6).... It's a. . . . . . . 6! France goes to Kaba - who gets back into the hot tub. Slovakia is between Nantonoyama (1,2,3) and Polimasa (4,5,6). It's a... . . . . . . 1! So Nantonoyama gets Slovakia - and I start to wonder about what truly random means.... Georgia now, between Joputosu (1,2,3) and Krisachiyama (4,5,6).... Will it be any number other than 1 or 6? It's a... . . . . . . . 3! Joputosu takes Georgia. Right, the only other contested team is Portugal, between four players. So we'll have 'semi finals' and then a final. First semi final is Athenayama (1,2,3) vs Fujiko (4,5,6). It's a..... . . . 1 Athenayama is through to the finals. The other semifinal is between Kimyama (1,2,3) and Koorifuu (4,5,6). It's a... . . . . . 3! (Have 2, 4 and 5 been rubbed off the die?). So Kimyama is also through to the final. Final to get Portugal is between Athenayama (1,2,3) and Kimyama (4,5,6)..... It's a..... . . . . . . 3! Athenayama takes Portugal. Jejima 1,498 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) I will set up a questionnaire with Survey Monkey soon (once Polimasa has made her final selection for Representative team) for the full squad selections. Please remember.... You MUST select your representative team and counterbalance teams in your squad. So (for example) Baku MUST select England (representative team) AND Georgia (counter-balance team). (If you don't, whatever team(s) you have selected in that bracket will be replaced with the correct teams - but please make things easier for me, by selecting the correct teams in the first place!) Additionally, please select two substitutes (free choice) - from teams which are NOT already in your squad. These will come into play during the knockout rounds. Here are the groupings. (The letter in brackets is the group that each is in during the group stages.):- The groups are of different sizes (between 2 - 4). This is because I have kept teams with similar betting odds in the same groups. I have arranged the teams alphabetically within each grouping. Yokozuna England (C) France (D) Germany (A) Ozeki Portugal (F) Spain (B) Sekiwake Belgium (E) Italy (B) Netherlands (D) Komusubi Croatia (B) Denmark (C) Upper Joi-jin Switzerland (A) Turkiye (F) Lower Joi-jin Austria (D) Hungary (A) Serbia (C) Upper-Mid Makunouchi Poland (D) Scotland (A) Ukraine (E) Lower-Mid Makunouchi Czechia (F) Romania (E) Lower Makunouchi Albania (B) Georgia (F) Slovakia (E) Slovenia (C) Edited May 31, 2024 by Jejima

Jejima 1,498 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) Let's finish this! Two of the remaining three players can have their second choices, so Djodjoyoshi will represent Turkiye, and Polimasa will represent Serbia. That leaves just Jejima without a team! Okay, his second and third choices have gone, but he can have his fourth choice, namely Ukraine. So, Jejima will represent Ukraine. And the group draw is complete. Group A Germany (Albania) - Kuma Koma Hungary (Denmark) - Nekonishiki Scotland (Netherlands) - Tanetakahiro Switzerland (Austria) - Jakusotsu Already full. (Friend vs friend in round 2.) Group B Albania (Germany) - Krisachiyama Croatia (Ukraine) - Kimyama Italy (Czechia) - Jarayama Spain (Slovenia) - Koorifuu Already full. Jejima 1,498 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) Go here to pick your squad and substitutes for the Bench Euros 2024. Remember... a) You MUST pick your Representative team and Counterbalance teams in the relevant brackets. If you are unsure what they are, look at the tables on the previous page. b) You get a free pick for your two substitutes. The first substitute will join your squad for the round of 16. The second substitute will join your squad for the Quarterfinals. Make sure that the two substitutes are different from the selections that you have made for your starting squad (and from each other!). Please make your selections as soon as possible. There are still a couple more pre-round 1 bits of admin to do.... Edited June 1, 2024 by Jejima
Jejima 1,498 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) This is the update regarding squads and substitutes submitted via the Survey Monkey. A little key to how you have done.... = I have your squad - and it has been checked to be 100% okay! = I have your squad, but you made an error (either NOT selecting your (R) representative team or your (C) Counter-balance team - or both) - but easy for me to fix. = I have your squad, but at least one of your 2 substitutes is also a squad member - please redo your substitutes poll! You have skipped one (or more) of the categories, so do not have a complete squad. Notes on refiojis for this tournament. No refioji should be in charge of his own group, or a group containing a family member or friend. It is normal for a refioji to look after two groups, with Jejima double checking everything (two pairs of eyes are often needed!) Athenayama and Nekonishiki can take two groups as normal. I was planning to 'pair' Achiyama and Jakusotsu as 'one' refioji, due to their availability, but sadly Achiyama has picked up an injury (a fracture to his hand), which means that he will be unable to use a computer. I have had a look at the dates that Jakusotsu is unavailable, and it seems to nicely fit in around the matches for round 2. This makes me think that the only problems are.... a) reporting the results for round 2, as the days progress. This I can do (see below). and b) chasing entries for round 3. The problem is that my family members are in four of the groups - so I should not be receiving entries from others from those groups. That leaves two groups, you may say.... BUT Athenayama has to be the refioji for Group A (see members of that group), which is one of the groups lacking my family members. However, I *think* that Jakusotsu can still receive entries for round 3, and publish them before those matches begin - but just to make sure that the entries have been received, send a duplicate copy to Jejima for Group F and send a duplicate copy to Achiyama for Group D. This is only for round 3. I think Achiyama should be able to let us know who is missing an entry for that group, despite his injured hand, especially as half of the group is my family. If the refiojis Jakusotsu and Achiyama think that the above idea has a flaw, please let me know. Still time to change the plan. Group A Refioji: Athenayama Germany (Albania) - Kuma Koma Hungary (Denmark) - Nekonishiki Scotland (Netherlands) - Tanetakahiro Switzerland (Austria) - Jakusotsu Group B Refioji: Nekonishiki Albania (Germany) - Krisachiyama Croatia (Ukraine) - Kimyama Italy (Czechia) - Jarayama Spain (Slovenia) - Koorifuu Group C Refioji: Athenayama Denmark (Hungary) - Finngall England (Georgia) - Baku Serbia (Turkiye) - Polimasa Slovenia (Spain) - Achiyama Group D Refioji: Jakusotsu (Jejima for the results of round 2. Send copy of entry to Achiyama for round 3.) Austria (Switzerland) - Ganzohnesushi France (Slovakia) - Kaba Netherlands (Scotland) - Ryoshishokunin Poland (Belgium) - Fujiko Group E Refioji: Nekonishiki Belgium (Poland) - Asapedroryu Romania (Portugal) - jomojo Slovakia (France) - Nantonoyama Ukraine (Croatia) - Jejima Group F Refioji: Jakusotsu (Jejima for the results of round 2. Send copy of entry to Jejima for round 3.)
