With Italy's loss, the only sanyaku opponent that Yokozuna England would meet before a potential Euro final is Komusubi Denmark, who they drew with during the Group stage....   (Whistling...)

...so we better make sure they'll advance for a rematch. B-)

Bench Euro 2024 Saucer Quarterfinals – Day 1

Refioji: Nekonishiki

Baku (England) vs Bumbiachiyama (Czechia)

It’s already the correct line-up on the visual, sorry for the mistake.

Italy lost and the winner is in #6, so not good news for Bumbiachiyama, but it was the first day only.

Bench Saucer Quarterfinals game  - Day 1:

The result of Portugal at #2 will not count.
Nekonishiki added a win and a loss to his chain. Wise to place the winner above the loser.
Kaba added just a loss and a win ! Still many things could happen.

Kaba     Goal H Chain H   Goal A Chain A   Nekonishiki

Bench Euro 2024 Cup Octofinals games - Day 1 :

A positive day for Nantonoyama who adds 2 wins but also a loss !
No action for Koorifuu who adds a loss at #8 without even playing.

8. Slovakia ®   -     -     L
9.     -     -

Ganzohnesushi has almost as good even a better start than Nantonoyama.
Joputosu in the exact same position as Koorifuu.
Impressive report, huh?
More to come tomorrow.

@Athenayama

I guess my start is better than Nantonoyama's.

Ganzohnesushi

Of course, I was in a hurry to post my report quickly and missed the loss at #5 for Nantonoyama.

And while I'm at it, I also forgot Kaba's win at #4. Now corrected.

It is time to go to sleep I guess....

I have only managed to catch a couple of group games. Reading the articles about the games afterwards makes me glad I'm not sitting through them.

First round was pretty pleasant to watch, in general. After that most of the teams had as first goal not to lose instead of trying to win. This explains that.

Cup Octofinal Update

Finngall 0:1 Athenayama
(Denmark) (Portugal)

England D 0:1 W Germany
Netherlands : France (S1)
Germany (S1) W : Austria
Portugal : Portugal ®
Denmark ® L : Romania ©

Slovakia D : Netherlands

What looked like a 1:0 victory for Athenayama turned into a simple lead because of England's acting Italian in the end.

Seems like the only one looking truly happy is Pickford.

Having seen brilliant Switzerland yesterday and dismal England just now, I can't imagine how England can survive the next round. But then again it is another game starting 0-0....

What are you talking about? England has felled the mighty Slovakia in an epic battle worthy of legend. Waterloo and Agincourt pale in comparison with this glorious triumph!

I am trying really hard to upload the 20s video of Kaba and Baku (my young children) celebrating the winner - but I can't work out how to decrease the size to allow me to upload it...
