Koorifuu 886 Posted May 20 (edited) 1 hour ago, Kaitetsu said: Just noticed something weird with some ex-Miyagino men, other than the ones that are fully kyujo this basho, Tenshoho, Matsui and Onokura were participating this basho, but sat out for a couple days, but then came back in, maybe something behind the curtains happening or just kyujo due to the fear of Hakuoho's COVID spreading? Doesn't really make sense as the three came back a couple days later, and all kyujo were on different days. It does kind of make sense, though. They aren't forcing whole heya to go kyujo for any case of COVID like before - control's definitely not as tight. And everyone's different when it comes to the period of incubation - not to mention they didn't all necessarily catch it on the same day, it could've spread across a few. Presuming they're all going kyujo when COVID's symptoms are at their roughest, they'll likely be scattered across a week or so. Kintamayama 44,391 Posted May 30 (edited) Miyagino beya will continue to be part of Isegahama beya in Nagoya as well, it was reported today. "I have been receiving reports on his progress. This is done basho by basho. Next basho? At this juncture, I think this will continue," said Sadogatake Oyakata in charge of PR. "I hear from Isegahama Oyakata that he is doing well. He is donning a mawashi and giving first-hand advice during training as well," added Asakayama Oyakata, the other guardian.. The course in anger management this time was in the focus in the news, though Hokuseiho apparently did all in cold blood, for enjoyment. But with a scandal like this reported, I hear things like 'Are you raising rikishi like Hokuseiho also in this high school?' Bunbukuchagama 691 Posted June 28 According to a tabloid article, poor living conditions at Isegahama (cramped basement without windows or ventilation, high humidity) caused a COVID outbreak that explains an unsually high kyujo numbers in Natsu. Also, there is no wi-fi reception in the basement, and rikishi have to wait for an hour and a half to take a shower after training. If any of it is true, the whole Miyagino - Isegahama merger looks more and more like a disaster.

Akinomaki 39,887 Posted September 3 Hokuseiho today appeared at Arashio-beya, smiling all the time, still with mage, with beard. He waited in the vicinity during keiko, then entered the heya, greeted the heya members and the sekitori on degeiko, Kirishima etc. About the next things: "Nothing is decided yet" - danpatsushiki and more http://www.sanspo.com/article/20240903-PQH23GBTI5NCVHH2IRKX557UZQ/
dingo 1,161 Posted September 3 Getting thrown out for bullying and then having a danpatsushiki with full honours... I know that's the tradition but this is something I can never comprehend.

No, but a regular sports paper and not just the tabloids commented on it today. Because of the indefinite closure, the regional basho locations are affected: the one for Kyushu had to demolish the old training hall at the Nanzoin temple in Sasaguri, Fukuoka. "Had Miyagino come, that would not have been done this year." And all efforts to rebuild it are on hold. The Kyushu koenkai had to return this year's membership fees - all support for the heya has stopped. Isegahama and Asakayama report the results of the "education" of Miyagino to the NSK and according to the content of that evaluation, they decide the time to reopen the heya. http://www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/articles/-/319648 Edited October 11 by Akinomaki
Tsuchinoninjin 1,249 Posted October 11 I heard as part of the punishment, that when miyagino beya reopens, he can only have Chiyoshoma as his singular deshi for 6 months. And instead of chanko nabe, Chiyoshoma will just go to 7-11 and select a couple of ready to eat bento.
