It does kind of make sense, though. They aren't forcing whole heya to go kyujo for any case of COVID like before - control's definitely not as tight. And everyone's different when it comes to the period of incubation - not to mention they didn't all necessarily catch it on the same day, it could've spread across a few. Presuming they're all going kyujo when COVID's symptoms are at their roughest, they'll likely be scattered across a week or so.

Miyagino beya will continue to be part of Isegahama beya in Nagoya as well, it was reported today. "I have been receiving reports on his progress. This is done  basho by basho. Next basho? At this juncture, I think this will continue," said Sadogatake Oyakata in charge of PR. "I hear from Isegahama Oyakata that he is doing well. He is donning a mawashi and giving first-hand advice during training as well," added Asakayama Oyakata, the other guardian..

Always in response to scandals like the present one, these courses are held. The course in anger management this time was in the focus in the news, though Hokuseiho apparently did all in cold blood, for enjoyment.

Tospo in connection with this reports that now Mongolians in school clubs aiming to become rikishi are bashed - for the deeds of a Mongolian not even listed as Mongolian by the NSK. The coach of a high school sumo club: "I'm living under the same roof with a high school student who came from Mongolia, really raising him like a son. But with a scandal like this reported, I hear things like 'Are you raising rikishi like Hokuseiho also in this high school?' Kids from Mongolia are equalled with Hokuseiho now."

From the NSK PR top Sadogatake was there, the caucus wants that the NSK to name the conditions for the end of the punishment. Chairman Hirasawa: "It is a problem that it is unclear what will become of it from now on." o

That's surprising -- most rikishi don't look like they're from a nation that's on a diet.

According to a tabloid article, poor living conditions at Isegahama (cramped basement without windows or ventilation, high humidity) caused a COVID outbreak that explains an unsually high kyujo numbers in Natsu. Also, there is no wi-fi reception in the basement, and rikishi have to wait for an hour and a half to take a shower after training.

If any of it is true, the whole Miyagino - Isegahama merger looks more and more like a disaster.

Hokuseiho today appeared at Arashio-beya, smiling all the time, still with mage, with beard.
