Kaninoyama 1,801 Posted March 24, 2024 We all just witnessed history being made. Also first rikishi to sweep all three sansho since Kotomitsuki. One of six now to ever do it.
hakutorizakura 635 Posted March 24, 2024 WOW!! It's done! Incredible, hope no long term effect on the injury.
Benihana 1,929 Posted March 24, 2024 He was walking pretty normal. If i didn't know of yesterdays events, i wouldn't have noticed anything. Wonder what's the diagnosis.

Wonder what's the diagnosis. English commentary from NHK said Isegahama gave more detail after the match. Badly stretched ligaments in the ankle (ankle sprain). Takerufuji couldn't walk on it yesterday. Isegahama planned to submit the kyujo, but Takarafuji woke him up at night to say he wanted to compete, so they loaded him up on painkillers. Basically, he wasn't in condition to compete but he wouldn't take no for an answer. I do hope he has done no additional harm, but I'm glad it worked out for him. hakutorizakura 635 Posted March 24, 2024 Congrats to Takayasu for another JY, thanks to that monster shitatenage from Hosh. 1

Akinomaki 40,670 Posted March 24, 2024 Plenty of JY, at least one ozeki among them - if Kotonowaka joins, he'll start a yokozuna run, so Hoshoryu would as well 1

Benihana 1,929 Posted March 24, 2024 A monoii after an excellent bout to end the basho. Hilarious Haru!
Akinomaki 40,670 Posted March 24, 2024 A polite explanation: they might have gone done at the same time, but Kotonowaka was down first - Kumegawa could just have said it was a false call
Akinomaki 40,670 Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) Isgegahama of course commented that Atamifuji is still inept: "he was sleeping today", after belittling the ozeki wins - he got kachikoshi this basho, but ... - the oyakata in the CM definitely is a fake Edited March 24, 2024 by Akinomaki
Thorbjarn 215 Posted March 24, 2024 Looks like the painkillers wore off, but nontheless: Congratulations, Takerufuji. That is one hell of a feat, pulverizing records left and right. He even destroyed the Ms Ts Yusho record. Very interesting, very wild Basho. We are still at a point where I can't say for sure if there even is a next Yokozuna on the horizon. After starting watching in an era, where there were four of them, it feels a bit weird to say that.
Benihana 1,929 Posted March 24, 2024 Someone post a transcript of the Intabyū please.
Akinomaki 40,670 Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) Nice: the oyakata was commentating today, I wanted to show him good sumo - the oyakata was pleased with his interview Edited March 24, 2024 by Akinomaki
Adz_517 21 Posted March 24, 2024 (edited) In this single basho Kirishima lost the same amounts of bouts (10) that Yusho winner Takerufuji has lost in his entire professional career. Quite astonishing. I wonder how Takayasu feels about this, picking up his 8th second place medal in his 77th attempt to win the big one and this new guy has wondered in and done it first try! Where has that Kirishima been all meet? Great final bout. Edited March 24, 2024 by Adz_517
