I don't doubt a Kirishima yusho would get him the rope: I just doubt he can yusho after taking 2 losses in the 1st week. He's capable of winning out from here, but I'm not pinning any hopes on it. The usual dead body discussion aside, I'm expecting a redo there, and could see them being harsh with Kirishima and letting the call stand. dingo 1,160 Posted January 22 For someone who's new in ozumo and facing a former sekiwake, Onokatsu could definitely make a bit of a better effort to bow after the bout. That was barely a nod for Wakatakakage and felt quite disrespectful. Surprised that the gyoji didn't make him come back for a redo. Wakatakakage himself did it much better. Brutal tachiai by Meisei, a proper welcome to the upper ranks for Onosato. I still don't quite understand how he managed to win this bout except that he kept moving forward and didn't let go of Meisei. Abi did the henka today that Shodai was perhaps expecting yesterday. I guess Gounoyama was an easier target than Shodai. Wonder if Abi has a list of rikishi on his wall and he's checkmarked the suitable henka targets... Great win for Ura! His entertainment value is seemingly endless. Kotonowaka showed great defence once again against Daieisho. I haven't seen Daieisho's oshi so ineffective for a while, usually he manages to push back his opponents well but everything was just absorbed by Kotonowaka. Once Kotonowaka got the belt grip the bout was basically over. Kirishima probably got a minor heart attack over that sashichigae. In the end all is still well for now. Terunofuji is having a harder time than usual these last few days, but still has the strength to overpower his opposition for now. I do wonder if that will last until the end of the basho.
