Top 10 Sumo Records Kyushu 2023

Recommended Posts

Hello my friends. After a two year hiatus I have decided to start the top 10 records series back up. A lot has happened in two years, but I will do my best to make sure that the information is correct. 2023 has come to a close, and it's been a wild one. But it does look like order may be getting restored, as I mentioned in another thread that 2023 was the first time in six years that there were no hiramaku yusho. Who will be the up and comers for next year? Will Terunofuji retire next year for sure? Will anyone of the current ozeki get the rope? Will there be another force coming through? I look forward to how 2024 will go, but let's take a look at what has happened within the last two years since the last time I posted this thread.

*I also welcome anyone to make corrections to my posts as I want to get this right since my absence of updating the records.

Most Makuuchi Matches Between Two Rikishi

1. 66 - Kotoshogiku (36) vs Kisenosato (30)
2. 63 - Hakuho (56) vs Kotoshogiku (7)
3. 62 - Kotoshogiku (33) vs Harumafuji (29)

I know this hasn't changed (and is unlikely to change) in forever, but those numbers really flatter old Bumpety-Bump.
His presence in the top 3 slots testifies to his longevity, but w/l ratios >1 against 2 yokozuna still causes a kind of mental double-take.

Well to be exact most of the the wins Kotoshogiku got against Kisenosato and Harumafuji were not when either was a yokozuna.
