  1. 1. In January 2025, Takakeisho will be ranked higher on the banzuke than the following rikishi (a rikishi not on the banzuke, will be considered to be ranked lower than him, if he is still on the banzuke). You can vote more than once.

    • Terunofuji
    • Kirishima
    • Hoshoryu
    • Daieisho
    • Kotonowaka
    • Takakeisho will be ranked lower than all of the above.

  2. 2. What will be Takakeisho's longest winning streak in 2024? This may include fusensho wins, but does not include any yusho play-offs. He lost on day 15 in November 2023, so his streak starts on 'zero'.

    • Zero - he won't win any bouts in 2024!

This poll began as the 'Youngest Makunouchi rikishi' poll.

Takakeisho began his Makunouchi career in January 2017 at the age of 20.  He began his sanyaku career in January 2018.  He won his first ever yusho in November 2018. He became an Ozeki (twice!) in 2019. In 2020, he won his second Makunouchi yusho, and his fourth Makunouchi jun-yusho. In 2021, he won his fifth and sixth jun-yushos. In 2022, he won two more jun-yushos.  2023 was a mixed year, with his 3rd and 4th Makunochi yushos, but also going kadoban twice - one time going kyujo half-way through the basho, and another time going kyujo for the whole basho.

How will this ?young? man (aged 27) do in 2024?

Please expand on your votes in the comments below. Please say how many yushos and how many jun-yushos you think that he will win.

Comments will be used as a tie-breaker for deciding yushos at the end of the year, if required.

Two yushos and a jun-yusho will be enough to get him the rope in 2024. And if I'm wrong that will be his last chance at it

Close to suggesting he will be retired. Instead I think it's the tournament after the tournament after sekiwake.

I am amazed that he won two yusho in 2023, and incredibly he is still among the youngest third of the rikishi in makuuchi. But it doesn't feel like he can evolve his sumo further, and now that others around him are starting to get their act together Takakeisho might find it increasingly hard to win another yusho. Let's give him one J, hanging on to the rank.

1 yusho, 1 jun-yusho -- not back to back. Still at Ozeki to end the year. Terunofuji will be intai; Kirishima & Hoshoryu will be ozeki or higher, Kotonowaka also ozeki.

He'll get a yusho - maybe at the end of the year?  Plus a jun-yusho in July. I think his worst record will be 9-6, but will mostly have double digit 10-5 or 11-4 records.

One JY before loss of ozekihood, probably due to injury

21 people voted in this poll.

We think that Takakeisho will be ranked higher than Terunofuji (presumably because Terunofuji will have retired?) and Daieisho.

An 8 bout winning streak is the most popular choice, one more than those choosing 11. Looking at the choices, nobody s expecting any zensho yushos.

Looking at Question 3, we think that he will only be a yusho contender in one or two bashos.
