Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 Hi all! I am going to start the draw now. As usual, late entries are allowed, this time right up until the start of action of the Jonokuchi Division on Shonichi (Day 1). So, the six players in Makunouchi and the two players in Juryo yet to sign up, you may still do so. It would also be very nice if we could have at least one more mae-zumo player to give Shiroioikami some competition. Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 Let's get the draw started! Firstly let's find a Jonokuchi rikishi for our maezumo entrant.... Shiroioikami gets Amao. Oh dear, looks like Amao has skipped the last two bashos, as he tumbles down the banzuke. I guess there is a good chance that we might have to make a redraw for Shiroioikami, after the shonichi torikumi comes out.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 (edited) Next is Juryo. First randomise the order for the sweepstake.... There were 10 items in your list. Here they are in random order: J1W Ganzohnesushi J5W Fashiriteta J3W Katooshu J4E Gaijingai J2W Meletyoshi J1E Kaminariyuki J2E Sakura J3E Rokudenashi J6E Kaiowaka J5E Ack! Then the draw may commence....! Edited December 27, 2023 by Jejima
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J1W Ganzohnesushi gets M10E Tamawashi. Tamawashi is now 39 years old, and remains the oldest sekitori.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J5W Fashiriteta receives J6W Shirokuma. Shirokuma has never had an MK in his career! Naturally, this is his highest ever rank.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J3W Katooshu takes M4E Tobizaru. This will be Tobizaru's 9th consecutive basho ranked in the joi-jin or lower sanyaku.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J4E Gaijingai has J4W Kotoeko. Hopefully Kotoeko has recovered from his injury, and will be active.... otherwise there may be a redraw required.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J2W Meletyoshi acquires J2W Tohakuryu. Yes this game's J2W will be represented by the real J2W.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J1E Kaminariyuki has M12W Myogiryu. Myogiryu may be entering the twilight of his career - but he still has the ability.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J2E Sakura receives J14W Tochimusashi. Tochimusashi returns to Juryo after four bashos wallowing in Makushita.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J3E Rokudenashi taketh J1E Daiamami. Yet again, Daiamami is hoping to return to Makunouchi. A KK from him this basho may see Rokudenashi go up a division too.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J6E Kaiowaka recruits O1W Kirishima. That could be a BIG result for Kaiowaka. Kirishima is the reigning yusho champ - and is hoping for a repeat to get promoted to Yokozuna.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 J5E Ack! takes M2W Abi. Abi's oyakata (moto-'Terao') has recently passed away. How will this effect Abi's basho?
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 That concludes the draw for the Juryo Division, although late entries from @Terarno and @nelimw will be allowed.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 Time for Makunouchi..... There were 36 items in your list. Here they are in random order: M15E Kotononami K1E Oshirokita M14W Seiyashi M5W #1HENKAFAN O1E Kaba M6E Djodjoyoshi O1W Tetsuba M7E Kimyama M15W Athenayama S2E Jakusotsu M9E Jejima S3E lilfox M6W Sumo Spiffy M1W sumojoann S1E Ryoshishikunin M10WGusoyama S2W chishafuwaku M13W Chiyotasuke M8E Hoshotakamoto M11E Gernobono M3E Karasukurai M10E TheGunbaiHolder M14E Hakuhonofan M8W Baku M12W Getayukata M5E Reonito M2E RaeucherLax M4W Wamahada K1W Flohru M1E Bunbukuchagama M13E Fujiko S1W Yarimotsu M7W Benihana M2W Kaito M9W Suwihuto M12E WAKATAKE
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 M15E Kotononami claims M13E Churanoumi. Churanoumi started his Makunouchi career with a decent 9-6 last basho. He is now at his career highest rank.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 K1E Oshirokita has got M7E Ichiyamamoto. Ichiyamamoto won the jun-yusho in November. But he is now at his career highest rank.... maybe a tougher schedule?
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 M14W Seiyashi takes J7W Shishi. The Ukrainian giant picked up a rare (for him) MK last basho. Back to his winning ways?
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 M5W #1HENKAFAN relies on M14E Kotoshoho. Kotoshoho won the Juryo yusho in November. Last January he had a 11-4 jun-yusho in Makunouchi from a similar rank. Have the stars aligned for #1HENKAFAN?
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 O1E Kaba gets M10W Sadanoumi. Kaba is kadoban, so is in danger of losing his rank. Sadnoumi has 'eeked' out two 8-7s in-a-row. Hopefully a third time?
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 M6E Djodjoyoshi acquires J6E Tokihayate. Tokihayate is yet another rikishi at his career highest rank. He has also 'eeked' out two 8-7s in-a-row....
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 O1W Tetsuba needs something from J13W Oshoumi. What? Oshoumi is also at his career high? The shin-sekitori has achieved a KK in every basho that he has completed. Might be okay for shin-Ozeki Tetsuba?
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 M7E Kimyama's hero is J7E Kagayaki. Kagayaki only managed one KK in the entirety of 2023.
Jejima 1,441 Posted December 27, 2023 M15W Athenayama must trust J8E Shimanoumi. Athenayama can't have a worse basho than last time, surely? Shimanoumi has had three KKs in his last two years. Not great odds.
