M5W RaeucherLax's champion is J12E Shimanoumi.

Shimanoumi ended last basho on a 4-win run. Let's hope that he picks up where he left off.

M7W Jejima will get M16W Nishikifuji.

Makes a change from my usual mediocre Juryo fodder.... But three double digit MKs in-a-row? I'm not optimisitic about Nishikifuji.

M11E Gansekiiwa takes M5W Midorifuji.

Midorifuji won his last eight bouts in Septmeber. Wow! He's quite a streaky rikishi, so expect some early wins.

M14E Meletyoshi has been awarded J8E Chiyomaru.

The Big Baby! Well, Chiyomaru has had a couple of 8-7s in-a-row, so maybe okay.

M6W Athenayama takes J14W Azumaryu.

This 36 year old is surely in the twilight part of his career? Athenayama will be hoping for one last hurrah!

M7E Hoshotakamoto takes M9E Myogiryu.

At 37 years old, Myogiryu is one of the vets. Last basho he had 10 wins, so still some life in the old dog!

M16W Kimyama needs help from M3E Takayasu.

Last November, Takayasu won the Jun-Yusho from the joi-jin ranks. Can he repeat it this year?

Tetsuba will be pleased to know that Bushozan usually does okay at the top of Juryo.

K1E Yarimotsu has been handed S2E Kotonowaka.

I guess that Kotonowaka could get promoted to Ozeki, if he wins the yusho.... A big IF.

Tamawashi might be Batgirl image.png.e64b3b1657f3e7c6079f73e8ab15af04.png....

Spoiler

His real name is Bat-gal, well Batjargal - but quite near.

M2E Bunbukuchagama will rely on S1E Daieisho.

Daieisho is on a run of very good results. Perhaps enough to push Bunbukuchagama into sanyaku for 2024?

A bit of a unknown at this rank - could go either way for Joaoiyama.

M1E Ryoshishikunin has drawn J5E Onosato.

Onosato won the Juryo jun-yusho in September. Can he go further this basho? I have a feeling that Ryoshishikuni will happy with his selected rikishi.

S1W lilfox has M12E Oho.

I still have hopes that Oho will prove to be a sanyaku regular in the future - and not just because he is one of my youngest son's favourites.

M10E Getayukata has been granted Y1E Terunofuji.

So, as usual with the Yokozuna of late, Getayukata will have to wait until the shonichi torikumi is published before she will know if another draw will need to be made for her.

M16E Gaijingai has been given J11E Hitoshi.

I think that this might be the only game that Gaijingai is playing this basho - I think he will be happy with this pick, despite Hitoshi being a shin-Juryo rikishi.

M9E Karasukurai gets O1E Takakeisho.

Can Takakeishi repeat his yusho victory from last basho? Karasukurai (and Takakeisho!) will certainly hope so.
