This is the current state of play. Two Ozekis have yet to turn up.

I will start the draw today - but as ever, late entries are allowed, right up and until shonichi. But I would prefer much earlier if possible.

We have four mae-zumo players, which is a decent recruitment. As of this basho onwards, mae-zumo players will be represented by rikishi in Jonokuchi.

But first let's put the newbies into this random list generator, and shuffle.....

  1. mz nelimw
  2. mz Kaiowaka
  3. mz Katoosho
  4. mz Fashiriteta

Next, I will spin this wheel with all of the Jonokuchi rikishi on it.....

nelimw will be represented by jk10W Agazumazakura.

At 167 cm (5 foot 5 inches) and 99 kgs (218 lbs), this is one of the smaller rikishi.

Kaiowaka's hopes will depend on jk5E Datenomori.

Datemori is 191cm (6 foot 3 inches) and 180 kg (397 lbs) - so, one of the bigger rikishi!

Katoosho has drawn....  jk16W Fujihara.

Fujihara only turned up for one bout last basho (day 13) - is he active this basho? Or will we have to draw a replacement for Katoosho later on?

Fashiriteta has got jk16E Daikinryu.

Although Daikinryu was listed as mae-zumo last basho, he has been around for over a year, and rose as high as Sandanme. If he turns up this basho, he could be a good draw.

My wife, J3W Fujiko, will take J9E Takahashi.

Takahashi has yet to 'heat' the wall - 8 KKs in-a-row. Safe pick?

J3E Rokudenashi receives S1W Wakamotoharu.

The Sekiwake completes a year in sanyaku - and has had 7 kks in-a-row. Looks like our Juryo division will be interesting.

J2E WAKATAKE has drawn J6E Chiyoshoma.

It's been 3 years since Chiyoshoma was last in Juryo... He's too good for this rank?

J1E Kaminariyuki will be championed by M7E Hokuseiho.

Hokuseiho is surely a sanyaku regular for the future. Ranked just outside of the joi-jin, this could be a basho to rack up a good double digit score.

J2W Katooshu has secured K1W Hokutofuji.

It's been over 3 years since Hokutofuji was ranked in sanyaku.

Lots of decent picks are being drawn by Juryo players!

J5E Ack! has M6W Takanosho.

Takanosho is another decent pick, I think. Hedoes seem to alternate MK and KK bashos of late....  Good news for Ack! is that this basho should be a 'KK'.

J4W TheGunbaiHolder has been given..... O2W Hoshoryu!

Yet another rikishi with the potential to go big this basho!

M12W Djodjoyoshi hopes go with J7W Tamashoho.

At the age of 30, Tamashoho almost made it Makunouchi this year.... Still time to do so!

M3W Suwihuto needs something from M10W Kotoeko.

Kotoeko usually ends up 8-7 at around this level.
