Chiyonokuni Intai

Now, I'm usually not paying much attention to the behind the scenes work of danpatsu ceremonies, but is it unusual that Chiyonokuni and Akiseyama are just selling general admission tickets for a flat price?

A couple of busy post-Natsu weekends for the Kokugikan with Ishiura and Akiseyama on June 1st and 2nd, Chiyonokuni on the 8th, and probably the East Japan University Championship on the 9th.

Maybe their sponsors have already booked all the masu seki?

Apparently a sign that the event has no intai-zumo attached (only in cases of borrowed kabu, I presume) - for Akiseyama the hall looked very empty in the videos - the best seats are visible and they should be the first to be used, for Chiyonokuni the hall sounds a bit more lively - maybe due to much cheaper tickets, but there are not many videos so far - as usual the sumo channel posts while the even is still going on

On 02/06/2024 at 14:01, Akinomaki said:

Akiseyama also had about 300 cutters, 270-300. While Ishiura had a set of the usual seats on sale, Akiseyama and Chiyonokuni only unreserved seats, Izutsu for 10 000Yen, Sanoyama for only 6000 Yen, tickets also available on the day. Ishiura and Chiyonokuni were/are on sale on Piaw.pia.jp/t/chiyonokuni/w.pia.jp/t/ishiura/, Akiseyama not

23 hours ago, Akinomaki said:

Izutsu had 6 heya sekitori for a cut (Ishiura 7), many more oyakata and only a few less total number of cutters, with a much smaller event, watching the empty ranks in the videos - no intai-zumo: the sekitori cutting were all in kimono - that enabled Onosato to skip the event.

Chiyonokuni was in tears as the name of his brother was called and named as absent - he knew of course that this was coming

There was no final bout - instead he did a final butsukari-geiko as the last time in shimekomi (else always done in keiko mawashi), lending his chest to Chiyonoo, Chiyosakae, Chiyomaru and Chiyoshoma http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2024/06/08/kiji/20240608s00005000339000c.html

Only 3 sekitori left at Kokonoe for the cutting, plus 1 oyakata. Sekitori in kimono=no intai-zumo, the announcer told that they were aiming for the fastest danpatsu-shiki (in the kokugikan) ever, accordingly Azumazeki and Fujigane did not appear for the cut - not ready yet, it was too fast for them. So fast that the papers couldn't count the numbers - very rare that none is reported so far.

The video of butsugari was wonderful, Chiyonokuni laughing and having a good time – though I cringed a little as he lent his shoulder (one of the body parts he has damaged over the years).

While reading his Wikipedia article, I came across this: "Toshiki Sawada was born the son of a Buddhist temple head priest. From a very young age he had great interest in combat sports such as karate."

Still no numbers - the NSK cutters were basically only those from the pics above - plus those from the heya

Fujigane  appeared before Azumazeki, Nakamura (Yoshikaze) was also called but did not appear, from the heya the 3 sekitori from butsukari plus 2 oyakata, Oyama (Chiyootori) and Tanigawa (Hokutoriki) before the final cut by the shisho
