Rules for the semi-finals (NB to refiojis - please go the official rules to check on rules for drones, should we get any).

The two real semi-final matches are broken into 'three' parts.

a) the result of the first half

b) the result of the second half

c) the result of extra time (if no extra-time, this counts as a 'normal' 0-0 draw - even if it features a © or ® team) - Penalty shoot-outs are not included.

This only includes goals scored in that time period.

If team A is leading  3-0 at half time, but ends the match winning 3-1, team A has won the first half, but team B has won the second half.

If team A is leading 1-0 at half time, but ends the match 1-1, then team A has won the first half, and team B has won the second half, with the match going into extra time.

If team A is leading 1-0 at half time, and the match ends 1-0, then team A has won the first half, but drawn the second half.

Remember, teams with special powers will have their special power used in the time period selected (with the exception that if extra time has been selected for the special power, but no extra time was actually played, then the results are considered as normal 'draws' without special powers).

Players need to label which part of the match they are predicting. Remember that a player predicts for all parts of the match for the teams still on their roster. So if the player has all four teams, he will have 12 slots in total. Label as follows:- (1st) = first half, (2nd) = second half, (ET) = Extra time.

Players need to highlight their (S1) and (S2) teams (from the previous two rounds - if still in) - by putting it by the first mention of that team in their line-up.

The © and ® teams - if any players is lucky enough to still have them - have slightly different rules (new for this competition). You choose which part of the match (so 1st, 2nd or ET - remember if no extra time occurs, then any ® or © team in that slot is counted as a 'normal' draw. If extra time does occur, then ® and © teams in that slot get the 'special' powers.) to use your special ® or © powers. This power can only be used once - so choose carefully. For the other two time periods, they count as 'normal' teams. Players need to remember to indicate (just the once) which slot he intends to use the special powers.

Normal time rules

As for previous rounds.

Extra time rules

The chain restarts for extra time from the slot after the one that ended the normal time results. The game ends at the end of the first run through even if one or both chains remain unbroken. The game does not go back to the start for a second run-through.

These are the squads of all players for the Semifinals.

First substitute (S1) and second substitute (S2) added - if still in the competition:

Well, would you believe it? The only 'player' with all four active teams on his squad, is Mr Froggy! His team was selected by having the least favoured pick in each selection made by real players, and random picks for his substitutes! Meanwhile, Kaba and Djodjoyoshi both have only one squad on their roster.

aminoumi:  Spain Australia England (S1)

Athenayama:  Spain  Sweden (S1) England (S2)

Baku:  Spain ©   England (S2)

Bumbiachiyama: England Spain Sweden ©

Djodjoyoshi:    Sweden (S1)

Finngall:   Sweden ® England (S1)

Jejima: England ©  Sweden  Australia (S2)

Kaba: England

Koorifuu: England    Sweden (S2)

And a deterministic selection of teams is a much better predictor of results than the artificial 'intelligence' of ChatGPT.

And the Semifinals begin soon! I’m sending out the line-ups so early, because I can’t send them right before the kick-off, so at least you will know how your matches are going during the first match. I will send the results at around 5pm CEST as usually.

The line-ups look funny this way, have patience for untangling them. :)

Bench World Saucer Semifinals
Refioji: Nekonishiki

BWS4 Match 1:
Bumbiachiyama (South Africa) vs Baku (Vietnam)

Bumbiachiyama

Comment: I was lucky to survive the 1/4 finals. Why not some luck for the Semifinals

Baku
1. England (S2) (2nd), 2. England (S2) (E.T.), 3. England (S2) (1st), 4. Spain (E.T.), 5. Spain (1st) (C), 6. Spain (2nd)

Bench World Cup Semifinals
Refioji: Nekonishiki

BWC4 Match 8:
Athenayama (Canada) vs Polimasa (Morocco)

Athenayama

Athenayama : 1. Sweden (S1)(2nd), 2. Spain (2nd), 3. Spain (1st), 4. Sweden (S1)(1st), 5. Sweden (S1)(ET), 6. Spain (ET), 7. England (S2)(2nd), 8. England (S2)(1st), 9. England (S2)(ET).

Comment : Unbelievable, my brother and I are in the semifnals with a slight chance to face each other in the finals. I must be dreaming.
Even with one more team nothing is sure as luck plays a very big part from now on.

Polimasa

1.) Sweden (S2) 2nd, 2.) Spain 1st, 3.) Sweden (S2) ET, 4.) Spain ET, 5.) Sweden (S2) 1st, 6.) Spain 2nd.

Comment: I can't believe I reached Cup Semifinals. It will be difficult against Athenayama's stronger and larger squad. But.. even, I lose, I'll have a shot for the 3rd place

Refioji comment: Sweden 2nd time is out of the match

Meletyoshi's Comments: And I'm still here? I didn't even want to play in the first place.

Koorifuji's Comments: I've admittedly lucked out when both my R16 and QF opponents threw their (R) on top when their teams weren't really clear favourites, and it backfired on both occasions. This time, however, Meletyoshi got BOTH my teams AND Spain, who are probably going to win the whole thing.
My entire strategy therefore relies on Meletyoshi going Spain first & hope for the massive upset so I get a hattrick of #1 (R) mishaps, haha. Very low odds but going defensive would probably be riskier!

Refioji's Comments: The match at spot #5 is canceled!

Bench World Bowl Semifinals:
(Loser is on the plane home. Winner progresses to the Bowl Finals).

BWB4  Match 3:
Kaba (Switzerland) vs Finngall (Sweden)

How about that? Finngall was unfortunate and his chain broke from the first line. Now Kaba is in position to win this!
If England win the second half or the Extra Time (if we go there) Kaba will win 1-0 (or even 2-0).
If not we'll go to the penalty shoot out.

Bench World Plate Semifinals:
(Loser is on the plane home. Winner progresses to the Plate Finals).

BWP4  Match 6:
Mr Froggy (Colombia) vs Pitinosato (Australia)

Mr Froggy scored a goal in line 5 provided its chain isn't broken before then. Pitinosato will score a goal in line 1 if England don't win the 1st half. And if they lose it, Pitinosato will be the winner of this duel. Still several other scenarios possible to analyze further yet.
