Round of 16 - Day 2:

BWC16  Match 4:
G1 Finngall (Sweden) vs E2 Koorifuu (Portugal)

Placing Sweden in first slot was a bold move (to my opinion) but it didn't pay off. It's already over. Win for Koorifuu. Final score to be seen.

Finngall     Goal H Chain H   Goal A Chain A   Koorifuu

BWC16  Match 8:
H1 Polimasa (Morocco) vs F2 Fujiko (Jamaica)

Polimasa got a not very useful draw in line 3. Things will get interesting tomorrow.

Round of 16 - Day 2:

BWS16  Match 11:

USA didn't lose so Baku will probably win this one and ChatGPT will go home in its virtual universe. BUT.... I assumed that Nygeria would lose to England which is the more likely to happen. If we have an upset there, things might be different. Stay tuned.

I agree with this comment. I hope that they can enjoy some “humble pie” for a change. They should have focused more on playing and less on other distractions.

Most idiotic foul by James. Now I hope Nigeria takes the match.

Sadly, the girls from England are breaking with the good old English tradition in a penalty shoot-out. After Stanway missed the first penalty things looked good for Nigeria but then they had no nerves and missed the goal by a mile even twice. All in all a very lucky win by England. Not really deserved...

6 Teams against 8 Teams.

At first glance this does not look so good

But....

....we have the very intresting direct duel of our R-Teams !

This could well be decisive

So I root for Australia to score one or maybe even two goals for me !!!

Refioji's Comments:  The winner in this match is determined. It is Veteran Pitinosato! If France wins it will be 1:0. If France draws or loses - it will be 2:0.

Nekonishiki's Comments: Kuma Koma, don't hurt me too much :D

Refioji's Comments: Kuma-Koma's chain is broken at spot #1. This means that Nekonishiki most probably will be the winner. Morocco's and Colombia's results will determine whether it will be 1:0 or 2:0.

Bunbukuchagama's Comments:

Jejima's Comments: I am trying to be a good manager, and look at my opposition's squad, before making my selection, and then picking my line-up accordingly. I actually think that Sweden will probably defeat USA, and that Japan has a better chance (so really should be in slot 2) of being nailed down for a win.... But, I *think* that my aite will likely put England and the USA in his first two slots, so I want to neutralise that, before making an impact with Japan....  Have I overthought this? Will Bunbuckuchagama favour Sweden (as I secretly do?), which will mess up with my plans? Am I being over defensive - and should be more offensive?  Time will tell!

Refioji's Comments: The winner in this match is also determined. It is Rijicho Jejima! If Jamaica draws or loses it will be 2:0. If somehow Jamaica wins - it will be 3:0

Refioji Nekonishiki – Octofinals – Day 3

And we had the third day of The Octofinals.

The results were:

England 0 Nigeria 0 (England won with penalties, 4:2)
Australia 2 Denmark 0

BWC16  Match 1:
Kaba (Switzerland) vs Meletyoshi (Spain)

Not much changes here yet, Kaba has a risky draw in #1.

BWC16  Match 2:
Oyama (Netherlands) vs  Chiyonosora (Argentina)

Oyama gets a second win in Slot #2, it has importance in chain only, because both players have a win here.

 OctoCup_3.jpg

BWS16  Match 9:
Rhinoshima (New Zealand) vs  Andonishiki (Zambia)

If Morocco loses or draws, Andonishiki wins the match. If Morocco wins, it goes to penalties after the 120 minutes.

BWS16  Match 10:
Kimyama (USA) vs  Bumbiachiyama (South Africa)

And Bumbiachiyama turns the potential goal to a real one. Will there be a third one tomorrow? Kimyama’s chain has already broken in #2.

11 minutes ago, Jakusotsu said:

(...ok, Athenayama already wrote "France won", so I'll follow suit even though there's still one minute left on the clock...) B-)

I hoped the game would be over before I post it but I was too fast.  ;-)

Semi-final penalty takers

Players need to submit a list of all 8 teams still in the competition in order of likelihood that they will reach the finals.

If the team reaches the finals, it scores the equivalent of two penalties. If it loses in the semi-finals, it is just one penalty. The sudden-death element of the penalty shoot-out starts from the fourth selection onward.

If there is still a tie after all of that, the list of penalty takers submitted for the quarter-finals, and then the round of 16 will be used to continue the sudden death penalty shoot-out. Only teams reaching the finals will count- and will only score a single penalty.

If there is still a tie after that, then it is the player with the fewest red cards, then fewest yellow cards that progresses. After that, it is the player that did best in the group matches, that progresses. If still evenly matched, then, the player who has/had the lowest ranked ® team at the start of the tournament will progress.

For anyone missing the deadline, the first eight on list of penalty takers submitted/('droned') for the quarter-finals will be used - including any teams that have already been eliminated from the competition.

The deadline for submitting the semi-final penalty takers, is the kick-off time of the first match of the quarter-finals.

Please go here to select your penalty takers for the SEMI-FINALS.

If you are on the plane home, no need to do this. But for everybody else, you have until 8pm GMT/UCT Thursday 10th August to do so. (I need to get some sleep, so won't be getting up in the middle of the night for the first match between Spain and Netherlands. Anybody from Europe (in particular Spain or Netherlands planning to get up at that hour to watch?)
