Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 2, 2004 Dear sumo gamers! It's that time again! You are all cordially invited to participate in my three games, Sekitori-Toto, Sekitori-Oracle and Sekitori-Quadrumvirate! Don't be confused between Sekitori-Toto, Sekitori-Oracle, and Sekitori-Quadrumvirate, they are all three different games, and all well worthwhile playing The objective of Sekitori-Toto and Sekitori-Oracle is, to try to correctly predict the outcome of all bouts involving the 70 Sekitori at the next basho. In Sekitori-Oracle, you submit your picks BEFORE the basho begins, guessing the win/loss records you expect each rikishi to have at the end of the tournament (for example, Asashoryu 14-1, Takamisakari, 8-7, etc.) - depending on how close you are to the actual outcome, you will score points. Since the last three basho, this game is FULLY automated thanks to Kashunowaka! You can now follow your picks day by day and see how the leader board changes... amazing! Thanks, Kashunowaka. Check it out, people! ;) Sekitori-Toto is played DURING the basho. On all 15 days of the tournament, you get to pick the 30 or so winners of the daily bouts (or, if you are not sure who will win a bout, you can pick "X" for a guaranteed half point!). This game was automated by Kofuji and has been one of the most popular games around since then. Both these games are a lot of fun, and are ideal for you to play "first" amongst the other sumo prediction-type games out there, because they will "force" you to consider the entire spectrum of Sekitori before you narrow your choices down to come up with your selections in the other games. Both these games also feature smaller prize categories besides the Yusho award, and a Nations' competition - so be sure to represent your country proudly, and to help your team mates out in bringing the glory home! The third game, Sekitori-Quadrumvirate, features an exciting new game idea, also involving all 70 rikishi in the top two divisions. Here you pick four Sekitori each day (hence "Quadrumvirate"). If at least three of them win their match, you also win. Easy? No, because you are only allowed to pick each Sekitori ONCE during a basho... so choose wisely! Check it out, if you haven't already! Since Haru Basho 2004, Sekitori-Toto offers nice PRIZES for the Yusho winner, who will receive *three printed Tegata* of their choice, and to the "Rookie of the Basho", who will receive *one printed Tegata* of their choice. These exciting new prizes are courtesy of John Gunning, a.k.a. Zenshoyusho's Rare Sumo Items for Sale on eBay (see his items at http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...sort=3&rows=50) So join in the fun, and who knows, you may win some Tegatas! :) On top of that, the Sekitori-Oracle Yusho winner gets a REAL trophy sent to them! You can see what it looks like at http://www.sekitori-oracle.com/gachincotrophy.gif ! Worth a try, isn't it? IMPORTANT RULES NOTE: unlike in real sumo, "kosho" status will STILL be given to players who miss ONE basho, but they MUST notify me of their absence BEFORE SENSHURAKU. So, if you will be absent, please submit your KOSHO request, else you will be given a 0-15 score. Kosho will of course be given only "once in a row" - two absences in a row will always result in a 0-15 You can reach all three games though the portal page at http://www.sekitori.com - or individually, at: Sekitori-Toto: http://www.sekitori-toto.com Sekitori-Oracle: http://www.sekitori-oracle.com Sekitori-Quadrumvirate: http://www.anasuya.com/4/ Pre-registration for Sekitori-Toto and Sekitori-Quadrumvirate is now open. You can enter the basho at any time, even after it begins, but if you can, you should pre-register for Sekitori-Toto and if you haven't yet registered your shikona for Sekitori-Quadrumvirate, it also doesn't hurt to do so now... As for Sekitori-Oracle, it is now officially open for you to make your entries! So, I wish you good luck, and have fun playing! Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 6, 2004 The S-T Banzuke is now up, and the S4 banzuke will be up in 2 minutes. And here is your second reminder to sign up for S-T and S4 and make your S-O selections at this time! (Shaking head...) Cheers Zenjimoto
Fujisan 530 Posted November 6, 2004 (edited) Thank you Zenjimoto- My Makuuchi promotion in Quad makes for a pleasing 5 promotions this basho. (Shaking head...) (Blinking...) (Laughing...) Although like in Rotosumo I am bottom rung of the ladder with only one way to go if I dont make my KK next time. Edited November 6, 2004 by Fujisan
Asashosakari 18,786 Posted November 6, 2004 D'oh, M10e -> M09w with a 9-6 in Toto? (Blinking...) Tough division. (Shaking head...) Hmm, on the other hand, J13w -> J14w in S4 with a shoddy 6-9...guess I can't complain too much in the aggregate. (Laughing...)
Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 6, 2004 D'oh, M10e -> M09w with a 9-6 in Toto? :-S Tough division. (Laughing...) Hmm, on the other hand, J13w -> J14w in S4 with a shoddy 6-9...guess I can't complain too much in the aggregate. :-) Yep, there was an unprecedented and hideous traffic jam this time in your region of the banzuke... (Blinking...) The S-T Banzuke usually has something peculiar somewhere :-P I am really happy that this time I was able to actually REDUCE the Sanyaku spots by two - a pretty rare event! ;-) Low scoring in S4 left us with just 8 Sanyaku there, OTOH... (Shaking head...) Cheers Zenjimoto
Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 8, 2004 The Sekitori-Oracle banzuke is meanwhile also up... finally. (Applauding...) Here are the individual links to the three banzuke: Sekitori-Toto: http://www.anasuya.com/toto/banzuke.html Sekitori-Oracle: http://www.anasuya.com/oracle/banzuke.html Sekitori-Quadrumvirate: http://s4.hakkeyoi.net/banzuke.html And, another reminder to pre-register for the basho (although technically all you have to do is make your Day 1 picks once the torikumi comes out) in Sekitori-Toto and Sekitori-Quadrumvirate, and to now make your selections in Sekitori-Oracle! (Pulling hair...) Cheers Zenjimoto
Frinkanohana 13 Posted November 8, 2004 The Sekitori-Oracle banzuke is meanwhile also up... finally. :-( Is the number of Komusubi a new record? I have never seen a banzuke with 9 (nine) Komusubi before.
Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 11, 2004 The Sekitori-Oracle banzuke is meanwhile also up... finally. :-P Is the number of Komusubi a new record? I have never seen a banzuke with 9 (nine) Komusubi before. Yeah, it's a bit on the high side :-) In S-O I am not that scared about Sanyaku traffic jam, cause usually there is a pretty good come-and-go, so I figured I might as well give the deserving candidates a go! :-) Although I AM hoping it will dwindle to 11 Sanyaku next time (Laughing...) Fujisan 530 Posted November 11, 2004 Is the number of Komusubi a new record? I have never seen a banzuke with 9 (nine) Komusubi before. Except Hoshitori and UDH anyway!
