It was a glancing blow and even Murray said it seemed like that was his plan and he was trying to get out of the way quicker. I can't stand Takaken$ho, he's just not interesting and not diverse enough.

There is part of me that is amused by the idea of Hoshoryu sitting as a permanent Sekiwake and being passed by a lot of other rikishi, just to see how surly he looks. This is why I'll be rooting for Daieisho and Wakamotoharu next basho. 1

I wonder who has the record for the longest uninterrupted sekiwake run...

No real shame in the other losses right now either, because they're probably the 3rd and 4th best too. Shame on the Takarafuji loss, though. If he ever gets matched up against Takarafuji after this basho, there must be something majorly wrong. I point out that he has to get up to speed ASAP against the 3 sanyaku since he will be a joi member soon; and if he wants to stay there and make sanyaku, ozeki & yokozuna; he has to learn how to beat them soon and consistently. robnplunder 974 Posted May 27, 2023 This basho turned out to be one of the best Juryo showings in years IMO. Ochiai is a sure bet to become an Ozeki.
Katooshu 3,137 Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) People figuring out Hokuseiho with those trips a bit? It's one thing to have Kiribayama beat you like that, but Oho..... Edited May 27, 2023 by Katooshu

Bunbukuchagama 691 Posted May 27, 2023 Abi is an agent of Chaos. He can beat almost everyone, but he can also lose to a random opponent just as easily.
Gospodin 187 Posted May 27, 2023 Not sure what´s going on with Abi. He obviously doesn´t have his usual power behind his thrusts.
Hankegami 412 Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Congratulations to Nishikigi for his unexpected KK after a seven-day winning streak from Day Day 8 to Day 14 (1-6 > 8-6, see here). To be continued on day 15? Still that spry at 32 years old and with 17 years of tachi-ai, thrusts, falls, and other sumo niceties on his shoulders! Thorbjarn 214 Posted May 27, 2023 What was the explanation behind the call between Kotonowaka & Ura? From the replay I thought this should be torinaoshi or gyoji call stands.
Katooshu 3,137 Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Well Kotonowaka clearly touched down first, so I don't see how it could be anything other than Ura was in an unrecoverable position before Koto hit the dohyo. Edited May 27, 2023 by Katooshu
