False. 38 minutes ago, Ripe said: but I think those numbers only apply to those who are family to previous Oyakata and that for those who are not family the requirements are bit higher. Ex-Hamanishiki's takeover of Kasugayama-beya was also arranged under that rule, no family relation there. 2

He went 3-4 in 7 of 8 previous chances. And of course we all know what happened the one time he went 5-2. The long pandemic has completely scrambled my brain, and I've forgotten. Remind me what happened?

He was discovered to have broken pandemic protocols because he went out with a sekitori he was tsukebito for. Despite basically not having any choice in the matter of whether he did that, he was forced to sit one tournament out while they investigated. He didn't get any additional suspension, but his rank wasn't maintained. I'm going by memory here, so please correct me if I'm wrong, whoever else. That vaguely rings a bell, but the whole pandemic is a blur.

He went as tsukebito of Hidenoumi to play slot machines at some illegal place. They both got suspended for the 01/2022 basho. As Gurowake mentioned, Shinden might not have had much input on the decision to go to those places, but they did get the same punishment.

As I recall, the oyakata made the call to pull them out of the tournament when he learned of the illegal gambling trip. The investigation concluded that only Hidenoumi was responsible and deserved to be punished, but his punishment was a retroactive suspension for the basho he already missed, so Shiden effectively got the same punishment even though they cleared him of responsibility.
