I don't expect Asanoyama to be very motivated if Ichinojo takes the Yusho in front of him. which is extremely likely. Ochiai on the other hand is only in lower gear long enough to get to the highest one.
Rocks 1,770 Posted March 25 Interesting recent history on J1e-J14w bouts for trivia's sake. Kagayaki has been on both sides of it! (and lost both) https://sumodb.sumogames.de/Query_bout.aspx?show_form=0&rank1=J1e&rank2=j14w

Sumo Spiffy 379 Posted March 25 Ok, I have another question: the rules say the ranking is based on the last six bashos, with the most recent being worth full points and the multiplier slowly decreasing as you go further back. I'm on day 15, and if I get it right, I should finish in the high 500s (didn't do the exact math). How do people end up with 3,000 points over six bashos when five of those bashos aren't worth full credit and the game rarely lasts this long? It seems like you would have to get to day 10 or 11 almost completely on low juryo picks every time.
Athenayama 636 Posted March 25 (edited) @Sumo Spiffy For each win you get 100 pts so you already have 1400 pts. Then you add the points depending on the rank of the rikishi you picked each day. Edited March 25 by Athenayama

Rocks 1,770 Posted March 26 Well, I was wrong about Asanoyama. He was motivated. Great match. Interesting last picks. Congrats to @Norizo on his yusho!
Athenayama 636 Posted March 26 As Jakusotsu correctly stated it, we had to aim lower. Hence Tamashoho was an obvious pick for me as he showed much stamina and resiliencce. Also considering that Asanoyama has to "prove" in each bout where he belongs (upper Sanyaku). Unfortunately Tamashoho failed. Congrats to @Norizo for a great win and to @Sumo Spiffy for being so competitive.
Kintamayama 42,367 Posted March 26 OK, two players left standing after day 15? This game is too easy. Congrats to Norizo-sama for the yusho!!

In that case, may I put in consideration that the rule should be changed into : Shalt thou pick a rikishi up to three times, no more. Three shall be the number thou shalt pick, and the number of pick shall be three. Four shalt thou not pick, neither thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. 1
Sumo Spiffy 379 Posted March 26 I didn't realize what the tiebreaker was until late (never mattered before), but to be perfectly frank, I don't think it would have mattered. There's no way I would have felt comfortable making some of the picks Norizo made work. Congratulations.

Yes, I noticed last time I was looking at old results that the 3-pick restriction didn't seem to exist. That changes things a lot.
