Jejima 1,299 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) Hi all, I've just had an idea for a new sumo game - one that is purely based on luck and nothing else. Basically, all you have to do is say that you are playing, and that's it. Everyone who has entered will then be put in a lucky draw for sekitori (so Makunouchi AND Juryo) that are listed as active on the day 1 torikumi. Everybody will get one rikishi each - and that's it. If your rikishi wins - so do you - if your rikishi loses - so do you. If your rikishi pulls out mid-basho, so do you. Next tournament, all active sekitori are put back in the hat for a new lucky draw. Player with the most wins, wins the yusho. In case of a tie between two (or more) players.... These are the tie-breakers.... 1. Any tied player whose sekitori lost a head-to-head during the basho with another tied player's sekitori is out of contention. (If this cancels all players involved, for example, player A beat player B, B beat C and C beat A, and there are no other contenders, then move onto 2. Note. If in the above scenario there is a player D who did not face any of the others, they win the yusho dy ''default'). This does not include yusho play-off bouts. 2. Amongst the remaining players in contention, whoever has the lowest ranked sekitori in the sweepstake is awarded the yusho. Banzuke will be made based on results Suggestions for how to award special prizes would be appreciated. Edited January 22, 2023 by Jejima

Jejima 1,299 Posted January 7, 2023 Due to stories before bedtime, the deadline for the game will be 7:30pm UK time, which is 4:30am Japan time. So, Baku can watch the draw
Jejima 1,299 Posted January 7, 2023 For the first banzuke, there may well be a few tied results, so I will use the yusho tie-breakers to decide the order for the first banzuke. After that, just the scores that are recorded. (New, mae-zumo players in the future will have their results determined as per the tie-breakers.)
Jejima 1,299 Posted January 7, 2023 Kaba (my other son) will also play
Athenayama 919 Posted January 7, 2023 @Jejima regarding the special prizes maybe if your rikishi gets one so will you? (Luck till the end...)
Athenayama 919 Posted January 7, 2023 Djodjoyoshi and Kimyama would like to play (maybe that will encourage them to be more interested in Sumo in the future and become regular fantasy players!).

I'm not keen on that, because any player with getting an Ozeki, Yokozuna or Juryo player is immediately out of the running, and that's not great. It should be something completely random in advance that anyone can win.... Such as a rikishi beating another rikishi the furthest apart in rank (Outstanding Performance? NB Can go either way - to the high OR the low ranked rikishi), the rikishi that still manages a KK, having achieved his 7th loss the earliest (Fighting Spirit?) and... well, that's two suggestions for three of the prizes. Any other suggestions for the third?

Any other suggestions for the third? For the Technique Special Prize --- The rikishi who ends up on the floor outside the dohyo the most number of times. OR --- The rikishi who loses by slippiotoshi the most often (unless that's too difficult to judge). OR --- The rikishi whose face ends up embedded in the most awkward or embarrassing parts of his opponent's body.
