Thanks again Athenayama (and congrats on your own result)! I can confirm nearly everything of the unofficial update and will try to be more reliable in the future.

I have the feeling there will be extra motivation for Aki from some. Beware of Jejima.

c'mon Jeeeez, show us some BIIIIG Aki-Sumo.

you did it in the past, you can do it again !

Ranks 7-11 are so tight, therefore 50 points from you could make the difference.

Analyse thoroughly, drink a single malt highlander, then sleep well - the next morning you pick your teams aaannnd Yuuuushoooo

The Metasumo standings have been updated after Aki.

ScreechingOwl climbs up to the podium for now as he switched places with Achiyama.
Nothing new at the top but probably there will be a very exciting finish between Ruziklao and Athenayama. Only one of them can become the Metasumo champion (unless they are tied).

(Firstprize...)  @Ruziklao  (701.26)
(Secondprize...)  @Athenayama  (694.52)
(Thirdprize...)  @ScreechingOwl
  (667.27)

Not that it really matters, but is rookie Bunbukuchagama really "Best Choice" since he wasn't available for picking?

Well, nobody knew I existed in the beginning of the year. :-D

It's a fair point, but if he's outscoring everyone who at least existed at that point, I figure leave him on there. Give him his props.

What do you mean "not available"?  I'm going to enter next year with a totally made-up name in the last group just to show what's possible!  (not really).

Are you implying that Bunbukuchagama is a veteran player who stopped playing for some time and came back recently with a new shikona? :-)

No, just that anyone could in theory have just made up a name for their last spot, and in theory chosen a name that would be used by a player who hadn't ever played yet.  So there was nothing preventing people from picking him other than a lack of knowledge that he'd be playing.

Exactly, they just needed the ability to predict the future. After all, don't all sumo games boil down to such ability? :-D

The Metasumo chief judges finalized the Metasumo results after six bashos. And what can I say? It was the closest decision in the history of Metasumo with less than one point between the first two places! After all calculations...

(Applauding...)(Applauding...)(Applauding...)(Applauding...) Athenayama is the Metasumo champion 2023!!! (Applauding...)(Applauding...)(Applauding...)(Applauding...)

wow I'm sure there was a loooong monoii to finally decide?

Many, many thanks to all the players I picked ! It was so close that it shows how competitive the SB championship is and I'm proud to have a small place among all these players.

I can't wait for Metasumo 2024 edition and I wish more players will join. It is fun !

Thanks to all and special thanks to @Tenshinhan for gathering the results and running the whole thing !
