The difference is that the Ms15TD who got to 7-0 wasn't promoted because he was outside the top 30 - ms10TD would definitely be promoted with a 7-0

Ouch, he was so so close to sekitorihood

Pretty crazy that in a 10-year career, his career-high rank came in his second basho!

The tournament has started being uploaded to the channel below. Last year they posted a video for each of the 4 qualifying blocks, then the best 16 to the final in its own video. Looks like it might be the same format this year:

I have pondered to myself about an Ms1TD or a J14TD if someone managed the triple crown of student yokozuna + amateur yokozuna + Kokutai champion in the same year, though to my knowledge it's never been accomplished. Nakamura was one win away this year....

I dunno, it just rubs me wrong for a new rikishi, no matter how awesome, to enter Ozumo at a salaried rank.  I don't know if an Ms10TD would reach Juryo with a 7-0, because nobody's done it; Mitakeumi fell short with 6-1 from there, and received Ms3 for his efforts.  The only other Ms10TD rikishi I see are Ichihara (Kiyoseumi) at 5-2 and Endo at 5-2.  So I guess based on those small statistics, it's worth testing them before granting them sekitori status.

I am kinda hoping he will not join Miyagino.

Dont get me wrong i have nothing against Miyagino but they already have Kawazoe and Ochiai. I dont want all of them in the same stable that would ruin the fun (Laughing...)

So, who will score Nakamura? I'd guess it's between Naruto (ties to NSSU + lots of former teammates there), Nishonoseki (two of his closest teammates there + it's a hip heya atm ), and Miyagino (he won the Hakuho Cup in middle school and has been on Hak's radar since). Tamanoi also visited NSSU recently and I believe is friends with Nakamura's head coach, Dr. Saito.

Nishonoseki has also Nittaidai graduate ex-Yoshikaze as coach - Nakamura may want to become the uchi-deshi of Nakamura (ex-amateur yokozuna in 3rd year like our Nakamura, who started in maezumo, because the qf didn't last 2 years then) and join Nakamura-beya in the future

An article in a local paper mentions Nakamura's injury this year. He injured his right elbow in March and had surgery, then spent about 3 months to recover. He wanted to win the student championships and thinks about the runner-up result: "Nobody congratulates you to 2nd place. It is meaningless if you don't get the yusho." His parents watched him lose there and he was determined to show them a win in his last tournament as a student. His father has amateur sumo experience, but: "I wasn't a rikishi who held such a cup". Before the All Japan his father sent him a photo from the win at the student championships in first year, and he showed his parents his strong self.

Well, sounds like he sure has a competitive drive. 1st, 2nd, 1st at the major championships and still disappointed (Laughing...)

I want him in Miyagino not necessarily for Miyagino's sake but for the ichimon. Isegahama and Terunofuji will retire in a few years and we'll need a new anchor stable in terms of rikishi strength. Right now the best candidate in the ichimon is Miyagino stable simply by the strength of numbers of sekitori class rikishi there.

About the only good that will come from all these talents ending up in the same stables is that it will make "Guess Kiribayama's Aite" more interesting by having the intrabeya forbidden matches change places most basho.  I really don't like the idea of a lot of the top talent being unable to compete against each other, and it just encourages more people to join the same heya that other strong recruits are from.  I suppose it really only matters if they end up in the joi and multiple of their heyamates end up there as well, but I hope to never see a repeat of the times when Takanohana's stable had 2 Yokozuna, an Ozeki, and often other sanyaku and joi members.

That seems to be the raison d'etre of Miyagino and Nishonoseki stables, to prove by the quality and success of its recruits that the Oyakata was the best.

Note: I checked the Haru 1994 banzuke and it was stunning: Futagoyama stable had 3 Ozeki, M1, M2, M4, M10, M12 and M14. Sadogatake had 6 Makuuchi slots.

Tomorrow Nakamura is on Fuji TV's Lion (-corporation - the present sponsor of the program) no mirai-monster  - as the (Nittaidai uses as symbol a) lion future monster he definitely will talk about his future plans - short clip: https://twitter.com/miraimonster_cx/status/1600788391377129472

A bit old for a future monster - sumo's so far were at first for 5 years the big Toma (a failure for Hakuho) and now 5 times Toyoda Rinnosuke (plus one time 11y old Kumagai)

It was only a report about him at the All Japan and the preparations, ending with the already known yusho interview https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1zg411n7xD/

Hello everyone, I have been reading the forum very regularly for a little over a year even though I almost never participate. I'm especially looking for news about Amasumo that I follow intensely. I got into it thanks to the abundance of information brought especially by Akinomaki, Katooshu and mikawa. I thank you deeply for bringing out the burning passion in me that we now share. I find the "banzuke" topics incredibly well done and helpful to follow Amasumo.  I would like to be able to do it but unfortunately I am not a specialist enough for that. Do you think it would be possible to do it for this year? At least a University banzuke and High School Banzuke?
I imagine it must take a considerable amount of time but if one of the Amasumo experts on the forum could do it that would be amazing. It really is an institution on this forum and you have no idea how helpful it has been for many of us.
Thanks again for the time you devote to the forum and I hope you will continue to do so !

I don't have the results added up in a way that would allow for some neat and objective ranking, but I can give my own subjective feeling of how the top competitors compare.
