Kiribayama was the new bright thing at the start of 2020 getting all the way up to M1E in November - when he went 3-12.
In 2021, he made it all the way up to Komusubi for November - when he went 6-9.
In 2022, he had a couple of bashos at Komusubi, and will be ranked at either komusubi or sekiwake in January 2023.

Will he go even further in 2023?

He can definitely make a run, might have a really off basho but will get back into the sanyaku

I think he's ready to take the next step, and will string together three good basho which will get him to Ozeki

I think that he can make the push to become Ozeki this year - and that he'll be ranked at Ozeki on the January 2024 banzuke.

Poll closed.

Looks like we expect Kiribayama to do well this year, with him predicted to start next year in sanyaku - or just below.

Rather a spread for lowest rank to lose to, with a couple of spikes (no idea why) at M5 and M10.

We're pretty much bunched around the 50 wins mark for the year, which isn't bad, but also isn't stellar.

Kiribayama Kirishima had a mostly great year, winning two yushos, getting promoted to Ozeki, and having a new shikona.

Morty and Jejima both predicted that he would make Ozeki this year.

The lowest rank that he lost to (four times, in fact!) in 2023 was M4E. They were, Onosho in March,  Asanoyama in July, Takanosho in September and Gonoyama in November.

Only Morty got this spot on with M4. Sumo Spiffy, Kyokufuji and Shatsume all came close with M5.

Kiribiyama/Kirishima had 62 wins over the year.

Nobody got this correct. Morty was closest with 64.

So, the yusho (obviously) goes to @Morty - and a very fine one too. I think a definite 14-1.

I guess Jejima can have a shukun-sho.

Woo-hoo! I didn't predict the new Shikona though, that was a surprise
