Gurowake 3,485 Posted November 25, 2022 (edited) 15. Oho One thing to note is that Hiradoumi and Oho have not met yet. Given that both might be out of the yusho race by the time the pairings are drawn up, they might reasonably be paired. However, I'm working under the (probably wrong) assumption that they are going to make the pairings before day 14, simply because that's when I have to make my guess, and I don't want to guess what the results will be. I was going to guess Oho until I realized this was a pretty likely outcome. (Likely in terms of logic that the committee hasn't necessarily run with, but I digress.) The way it seems is that they tag everyone who's yusho-relevant, parse out various schedules depending on how things shake out, and match up everybody ahead of time who isn't involved in that process. They do it too quickly after the fights to wait until then for most of the discussion, but if they locked things in ahead of time, there would be no reason to wait. That's why I think it's theoretically possible to suss out what they'll do, but only if you predict the outcomes of the critical fights.
Jakusotsu 4,906 Posted November 26, 2022 Final results: I'm surprised that only three players went with the obvious pick, but perhaps that one only came through because of Hoshoryu's falling out of yusho contention. The leaderboard remains unchanged and Sumo Spiffy snatches the yusho from Dai-Yokozuna Sakura (who takes the Shukunsho) on tie-breaker (win on day 9) - congratulations!
