Akinomaki 40,775 Posted February 4, 2023 Yuu Morishima 森島優 (14, 167cm, 108kg) will enter Oitekaze-beya. 3rd year at Kasamatsu middle school, he started sumo in 5th grade when he saw the ad for the just created Tokai sumo club twitter.com/bluetree1026 Training 2 times a week was hard for him, who liked to do things slowly, at his own pace, but at the club he developed a love for sumo. Last summer he finished 3rd at a Gifu prefecture tournament, but also due to Corona he has little tournament experience. He decided to join ozumo a year ago, the club representative introduced him to Oitekaze-beya and last December Daieisho came for a visit to the school. http://topics.smt.docomo.ne.jp/article/chuplus/region/chuplus-630082 "I want to try how far my strength has effect" o I thought Daieisho was on a visit to a home for the elderly when I saw the pic in the overview o 3

Akinomaki 40,775 Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) Ryusei Yamaguchi 山口琉聖 - 177cm, 100kg, 3rd year, in the sumo club of Yoshikan high school in Oita city enters Kokonoe-beya. The oyakata today was at the school in his and his new deshi's hometown - he is happy to get the first member of Kokonoe-beya who is from his home prefecture. Yamaguchi had already a job fix, but then decided to go on with sumo, he wants to become able to do a fierce sumo like Chiyonofuji - the oyakata had hoped he'd name Chiyotaikai as his role model. Yamaguchi started with sumo in 4th grade and was in a Kyushu region tournament. He'll move to Tokyo in 2 days time. The oyakata has 15 proposals for a shikona and is still undecided which one he'll give him. o o o vid Edited February 10, 2023 by Akinomaki

Yubinhaad 11,761 Posted February 14, 2023 Joining Onoe-beya is 22-year-old Ryusei? Shiroma (城間 瑠正), Nihon University 4th-year student from Urasoe, Okinawa. Onoe-oyakata (former Komusubi Hamanoshima) visited ANA Dosukoi Park in Urasoe two days ago for a press conference with his new recruit, who told the assembled reporters that he wanted to become a rikishi that children look up to. Rumour has it a Mongolian called Daraibaatoru (ダライバートル) has found a heya to join sometime this year (when the official entry is, is anyone's guess). Katooshu 3,332 Posted February 14, 2023 (edited) Dailai has come up through high school and university with his friend Choijil - the student yokozuna joining Onomatsu. Dalai made the best 8 at the All-Japans in just his 2nd year at Nittaidai (so his tsukedashi there has expired) and was doing very well - just as good as his buddy - but injury struck and he missed about a year and a half of competition. When he returned he made it to the best 16 of the student championship I believe, one win short of earning a sandanme debut. His style is somewhat similar to Oshoma's. Here's a representative match from December (he's on the right, about 182/140kg), although unfortunately for him his most publicized moment is falling victim to the massive leaping henka at 34:45 Shiroma (around 178-180cm/160kg) is a strong though somewhat sloppy competitor who I ranked around 15th last year on the college scene - not a big threat to the top guys but a tough match for anyone B level or below. He often starts with a hard forearm blast and looks to push out the opponent immediately, and he also wins with a lot of defensive throws and tsukiotoshi when an opponent has gotten him in a difficult position.
