(yobidashi call was missing and the gyoji hard to understand) Edited November 16, 2022 by Akinomaki
Yubinhaad 10,485 Posted November 15, 2022 Maezumo began today, the eight eligible shindeshi from this basho's group were joined by delayed Mongolian Kazenoumi and banzuke-gai Shokeima, back in action following a two-basho kyujo. Five bouts in the opening session, results: X Shokeima Kazenoumi O X Toriyama Kotosato O X Kosei Kazeeidai O O Tsuru Okano X X Sakuraba Negishi O Best bout was Tsuru-Okano, a nice minute-long yotsu battle between two Saitama Sakae boys. Sakuraba tried a sidestep-and-ketaguri, but the kick either missed altogether or had no effect, he was dumped on the floor immediately and looked concerned about his already-wrapped left knee. 4
Akinomaki 34,218 Posted November 16, 2022 Maezumo day 2, Sakuraba and Toriyama got their first wins, both against winless returner Shokeima (both knees injured) Sakuraba (left knee injured last week in keiko) - again the last bout o Toriyama - 3rd bout o other bouts - Kazenoumi-Kotosato (1st bout) Tsuru-Kazeeidai - 2nd 4th was Okano-Kosei Kotosato-Negishi 5th

No, definitely Kosei, here's the point in the video. (I find that the opening bout is usually the best for audio since it gets the proper yobiage)
Doitsuyama 1,150 Posted November 18, 2022 (edited) 0-2 Kosei against 2-0 Kazenoumi and 0-3 Shokeima against 2-1 Kotosato? Switching Kosei and Kotosato would make standard mae-zumo pairings. Also you stated that only Kazenoumi is done at 3-0, but with your results Kotosato also would be done at 3-1. I guess we'll see today. Ok, I have to agree that the video is proof enough. Very weird match-making indeed. Edited November 18, 2022 by Doitsuyama

One of those was against Kazenoumi, so maybe they didn't want to repeat that pairing for one of them to get the third win, I dunno. I certainly agree they could've found a much better opponent than Kosei, who is surely the weakest of the newcomers this time. Perhaps it's just a little different under Iyozakura and (I think) Fukunosato, who seem to have inherited the maezumo clipboards from Kotochitose and the late Shiraiwa. Akinomaki 34,218 Posted November 19, 2022 Last day of maezumo, even Sakuraba got his 3rd win. o Kazunoumi finished top already on day 5, followed by Kotosato, Negishi and Okano, the remaining 6 without 3 wins yet were on the dohyo today. Sakuraba lost to Tsuru but then won against Toriyama, for the 2nd time after yesterday. The 9 who passed will have the shinjo-shusse tomorrow during sandanme (Shokeima is sai-shusse - without a win)

Akinomaki 34,218 Posted November 20, 2022 (edited) Shinjo shusse hirou today - the nephew of course with a kesho mawashi of uncle Aminishiki - unfortunately he's in the 2nd row. The Saitama Sakae 4 in the proper ones from the school if available, else another one from the school sempai in the heya. Negishi with that of Gonoyama, Kazeeidai with that of Yago, Okano in the middle with another of Gonoyama, Tsuru in the 2nd row with that of Bushozan. Toriyama of course with one of Fukui pref. sempai Minatogawa who helped him join the heya. Kazenoumi with another of Yago, Kotosato with one of Kotonowaka - from the present one and not the oyakata, both have one like this, but the sponsor is the new one. On 12/08/2019 at 21:02, Akinomaki said: Kotonowaka II today at the jungyo in Murayama, Yamagata - the home pref. of father Kotonowaka - with the new kesho mawashi he got for juryo promotion from Oh-ban Holdings, a Yamagata pref. based supermarket chain. Akinomaki 34,218 Posted November 22, 2022 (edited) NHK reported with the 9 shinjo shusse rikishi on day 8 that 5 of them were from Saitama Sakae, one later was in university, so that should be Kotosato. Kosei has baseball background like Toriyama, all others have high school sumo experience. I found Kotosato on the Nichidai sumo club page (not updated): http://www.nu-sumoclub.com/member.html He was 1st year when Kinbozan was 4th year, so he did quit university in his 3rd year, confirmed as from Saitama Sakae.
