Kaninoyama 1,882 Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) Abi has been terrific since coming back from his suspension. Not at all underserved and far from a fluke. Omedetou Abi! Edited November 27, 2022 by Kaninoyama

Chartorenji 243 Posted November 27, 2022 This means that Abi will still self-exile from his family, finally with an actual excuse to not deal with the annoyances like love or family

Nope, look at the walk back to the shitakubeya, you can see tearmarks under Takayasu’s eyes. He was crying his heart out on the dohyo for 1 minute.

Godango 1,093 Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) I have never been so disappointed in my life. I had some residual dislike of Abi post-suspension, and I can't say I have any good feelings towards him after a henka in a play-off bout. Shameful. Is this the heat of the moment talking as a Takayasu fan who hated seeing him get hurt? Probably. As much as I wanted Takakeisho to win rather than Abi, I'm glad we didn't have to deal with the farce that would have been Takayasu mounting the dohyo again. I love this sport, but far out, sometimes it doesn't love you back. Edited November 28, 2022 by Godango

Jemuzu 34 Posted November 27, 2022 I think seeing the henka vs Takayasu made Takakeisho very tentative at the tachai

Chartorenji 243 Posted November 27, 2022 If Takakeisho wins the Yusho next Basho, does it count as a Yokozuna run?

I simply described what happened at the tachiai. That said, he was clearly physically affected beyond disappointment. He could easily have been crying because he knew was in no shape to fight a second bout if the chance had come.

I had another post a while ago where I looked at recent yokozuna promtion precedent, and 12-3 D is definitely a starting point EDIT: Here's the post: Edited November 27, 2022 by Godango
