Joaaiyama has not entered, so 'Mike' is in - and we have 32 players (and no stuffed frogs). Hooray!

As is my custom, I am going to make the allocation of representative teams last a while.

My son (Peter) enjoyed helping with the draw for the Bench Euros - so I will ask him (and younger brother Felix) to help out with the draw today - by getting them to roll the random die. They are not yet back from football training, so the die rolling will happen later.

Let's have a look at the first choice picks for the groups....  If there is a '1' by the country, and you selected it as your first choice pick, then you know it will be yours.

Group A
Ecuador (Switzerland)
Netherlands (South Korea) - 1
Qatar (Germany)
Senegal (Wales)

Not a popular group, it would seem. Only one player will be put here (shortly) for the first round of selection.

Group B
England (Tunisia) - 3
Iran (Argentina)
USA (Poland) - 1
Wales (Senegal)

Some popularity for England - but only the USA picker is guaranteed his/her team of choice.

Group C
Argentina (Iran) - 3
Mexico (Serbia) - 1
Poland (USA)
Saudi Arabia (Brazil) - 2

The Mexico selector will have two known group members at the end of the first round.

Group D
Australia (Spain) - 1
Denmark (Ghana) - 1
France (Costa Rica) - 3
Tunisia (England)

France is one of the popular teams - and will join the quickly chosen Australia and Denmark.

Group E
Costa Rica (France) - 1
Germany (Qatar) - 1
Japan (Portugal)
Spain (Australia)

I am surprised that Germany has only one first choice pick - and even more surprised that Spain has none!

Group F
Belgium (Cameroon) - 5
Canada (Croatia) - 1
Croatia (Canada)
Morocco (Uruguay)

Belgium is the most popular team for the first round picks!

Group G
Brazil (Saudi Arabia) - 4
Cameroon (Belgium)
Serbia (Mexico) - 1
Switzerland (Ecuador)

Tournament favourites Brazil get a decent four picks.

Group H
Ghana (Denmark)
Portugal (Japan) - 3
South Korea (Netherlands)
Uruguay (Morocco)

Only Portugal will go in the first round of selections.

Some statistics.....

How popular was each team (from the five representative picks?) [NB This does not quite add up to 160,as one would expect, due to one player picking the same country twice.]

Every country got at least one pick somewhere - so theoretically, we might be able to avoid having to ask players to make another selection - but I doubt that.

The least popular countries, with just one pick apiece, were:- Canada, Ecuador, Iran and Morocco. (If you have one of those four teams, you will definitely be awarded your representative team by the end of today.)

Next, with two picks each, were Ghana, Serbia, Switzerland and Tunisia.

A little more popular with three picks are Cameroon, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.

With four picks each, are Costa Rica, Croatia, Mexico, USA and Wales.

Host nation Qatar is the only one with five picks.

Japan and Senegal both have six.

Australia and Netherlands have seven apiece.

Argentina and Germany clock in with eight.

Denmark, Portugal and Spain all have nine.

Tournament favourites Brazil and France both have ten.

Meanwhile Belgium and England are the most popular with eleven!

Right, let's add the 'uncontested' first choice picks in green.

Group A
Ecuador (Switzerland)
Netherlands (South Korea) - Chijanofuji
Qatar (Germany)
Senegal (Wales)

Of course it had to be Chijanofuji picking his home nation. A decent pick too, looking at the other group members. He'll have to wait a while before he gets any company.

Group B
England (Tunisia) - 3
Iran (Argentina)
USA (Poland) - Akishiki
Wales (Senegal)

Akishiki also gets his home nation.

Group C
Argentina (Iran) - 3
Mexico (Serbia) - Nekonishiki
Poland (USA)
Saudi Arabia (Brazil) - 2

Nekonishiki starts off Group C - awaiting others to join him.

Group D
Australia (Spain) - Mike
Denmark (Ghana) - Asapedroyu

France (Costa Rica) - 3
Tunisia (England)

Super-sub Mike joins Asapedroyu to half fill Group D.

Group E
Costa Rica (France) - Jakusotsu
Germany (Qatar) - Oyama

Japan (Portugal)
Spain (Australia)

There is a German player in this group already - but not representing Germany!

Group F
Belgium (Cameroon) - 5
Canada (Croatia) - Oshirokita
Croatia (Canada)
Morocco (Uruguay)

Canadian Oshirokita has another reason to cheer on his Canada!

Group G
Brazil (Saudi Arabia) - 4
Cameroon (Belgium)
Serbia (Mexico) - Yarimotsu
Switzerland (Ecuador)

Yarimotsu gets his spot sorted out early.

Group H
Ghana (Denmark)
Portugal (Japan) - 3
South Korea (Netherlands)
Uruguay (Morocco)

Group H is the only group without somebody already assigned.

Die rolling will begin later today.
