Bench World Cup Finals:

BWCF  Match 5:
Kotononami (Argentina) vs Chijanofuji (Netherlands)

Refioji – Athenayama

What a beautiful fnal we have ! Two players who definitely deserve to be here, respectively the 3rd (tied) and the 2nd best attack of the competition.
Good luck to both !
The others just enjoy the show. :-)

Kotononami : 1. Argentina (R) (1st), 2. France (S1) (2nd), 3. France (S1) (ET), 4. Argentina (ET), 5. France (S1) (1st), 6. Argentina (2nd)
Comment : Let's go all out with my (R) team at first slot. Good luck to my opponent.
And thanks again to Jejima and all Refiojis for all the work and animation of the game.

Chijanofuji : 1. Argentina (S1) [2nd], 2. Argentina (S1) [1st], 3. Argentina (S1) [ET], 4. France [1st], 5. France [ET], 6. France [2nd], 7. Morocco [1st], 8. Morocco [2nd], 9. Morocco [ET]
Comment: Wow! The Bench World Cup finals! While I'm still stunned by making it this far, I've recovered enough to already have been furiously contemplating my strategy for the past few days. Will my honorable aite Kotononami support his (R) team Argentina in the final as well or go for his home country? In the end I've opted to support Argentina and must now hope Messi and his teammates pull through for me! ;-)
Ganbarimasu!

Refioji comment : I was ready to list you all the possible scenarios but Kotononami has mixed his line up so well that it is almost impossible to predict anything. The only we could say is that he took a big chance putting his (R) on the first line. That is to say if Argentina don't win the first half Kotononami will need a miracle and will be on a highway to Hell. On the other hand if they do win the 1st half then it might be a highway to Heaven !

Bench World Cup 3rd/4th play-off

Yarimotsu 1:0 jomojo

Morocco (1st) L 0:
Morocco (ET) D 0:

jomojo delivered a ganbare line-up, but just like Argentina, the match got snatched away from him. And just like (spoiler alert) Kotononami, he shares the fate with his R-team.

The bronze medal in the Bench World Cup 2022 goes to Yarimotsu - congratulations! (Applauding...)

Refioji Nekonishiki – Bench World Plate Final

Kimyama 0-1 Andonishiki

The real match goes to extra time (and penalties), but with loss of Argentina in the 2nd half, Kimyama’s chain is broken already in Slot #1. Andonishiki has a real goal scored, but there was no chance to reach the second one.

But who cares,

Andonishiki wins the 2022 Bench World Plate, omedetou. (Yushowinner...)

Bench World Cup Finals:

BWCF  Match 5:
Kotononami (Argentina) vs Chijanofuji (Netherlands)

First of all let's say that we saw an extraordinary World Cup final, one of the best ever if not the best. Too bad there had to be a winner. Two of the current best players on the planet had an epic battle similar to 2 Yokozuna in a playoff bout with 14-0 record.

Now to our Bench World Cup !

As we said Kotononami took a big chance with his (R) on the first line. That risk paid off as Argentina won the first half! Our French friend was sure to score, we needed to see how Chijanofuji could survive this deadly strike. Unfortunately for him, as France woke up in the second half his chain was broken right from the start.
Hence Kotononami scored 2 goals and is our NEW BENCH WORLD CUP CHAMPION ! !

Congratulations to both players who had a great tournament. Here also, too bad there had to be a winner.

Kotononami     Goal H Chain H   Goal A Chain A   Chijanofuji
  1. Argentina ® (1st) W - 2   -   X L Argentina (S1) (2nd)
  2. France (S1) (2nd) W -     -     W Argentina (S1) (1st)
  3. France (S1) (ET) D -     -     D Argentina (S1) (ET)
  4. Argentina (ET) D -     -     L France (1st)
  5. France (S1) (1st) L -     -     D France (ET)
  6. Argentina (2nd) L -     -     W France (2nd)
  7.     -     -     L Morocco (1st)
  8.     -     -     D Morocco (2nd)
  9.     -     -     D Morocco (ET)
  10.     -     -
  11.     -     -

    Kotononami     2     0     Chijanofuji

Thanks to all the players who participated, to all the refiojis who animated the game and of course our Richijo who created such games to entertain us and who does a great job all along!

Jejima's comment: Pitinosato scores in the first slot - and Kurosaki's chain never gets going. Kurosaki breaks Pitinosato's chain in the second slot, and that's game over and done with, very quickly and very efficiently.

Pitinosato (Senegal) 1-0 Kurosaki (Australia)

Mixed emotions ,  sad for my country but happy with Messi 's greatest achievement.

One of the best World Cup match I've ever seen , same level as Italy-Brazil 82, Argentina-England 86 , Brazil-France 86 ans some others...

The most legendary match will remain forever France-RFA 82 in Sevilla.

So nice that I won the bench world cup , my (R) team Argentina helped me a lot in the game.

Congrats to my opponent and all the winners.

Tonight I have a special thought for my favorite football player ever , Diego Armando Maradona , who made dream the child that I was.

And now go on with the Bashooooooooo (Kintamayama copyright)

@Kotononami

Please stop signing comments with my Shikona as this is a wrong statment. The best and most legendary WC match was the semi-final between ITA and GER in Mexico 1970, 4-3 after ET for Italy. Not for nothing it is called the "century game".

FRA-GER  from 1982 comes in as no. 2 only. I'll never forget the grimace of Alain Giresse when he scored the 3-1 for France... Klaus Fischer's bicycle-kick to make it 3-3 surely is one of the best goals in WC history.

And... Congrats for winning the BWCF. Well done.

Interesting match here:

1.) Lordshamrockyama scores 1 goal at line #2 with his (R) team. No chains broken. 1-0 for Lordshamrockyama.

2.) Finngall scores 1 goal at line #4. No chains broken. Score 1-1.

3.) Lordshmrockyama's chain broken at line #5. Score 1-1.

4.) Finngall's chain broken at line #8. Score 1-1.

So, the score is 1-1 and this is the only Bench World Final match going to Penalty kicks!

I can't complete the refiojing, because I don't have the Finals penalty kicks list!

Ok I'll stop it.

Don't you want to stop it yourself?

Does it really make sense?

Your shikona is already written on the top left...

Thanks for the congrats!

I was talking about MY legendary matches. I didn't have the chance to watch live the Italy-Ger match in 1970 as I was not born yet. Maybe you was?

As regarding the 1970 Italy-Germany it was mostly the Extra time that was legendary not really the regular time . Anyway all the games you both mentioned are legendary and as Kotononami pointed it rightfully these opinions are also personal and as a personal opinion I find it really difficult to clam this is #1, this #2 and so on.... I prefer to put them all on the "planet legendary" ! :-)

How about the Quarterfinal match GER-BUL (my favorite WC match) during 1994 WC in USA, resulting in the best ranking of Bulgaria on a WC ever? Hristo Stoichkov was something at that time.

I was 8 years old and this was one of the very first matches I ever watched. Little did I know that this was really a historical event. Went to bed crying after the loss... Two goals from Gerd Müller in ET were not enough.

I remember the France-Bulgaria match in Paris in 1993 , national tragedy.

The Bulgaria team was great at that time with Stoichkov , Kostadinov , Balakov  , Letchkov and others...

From Bulgarian point of view this might have been a highlight, but the German team in1994 was way too weak to make it a notable match to remember.

Yes, it was mostly the extra time, but even in the regular time it was already an extraordinary match. Only the Mexican ref was crap.

Btw, I'm sure most people in Germany of course would pick that brilliant semi-final BRA-GER 1-7 from 2014 as their all-time personal favourite.

Thanks for playing all, it was a lot of fun. Very happy to have earned a bronze medal despite R and C teams that went nowhere and less than 50 matches of pro soccer watched in my life. Hopefully I can translate this strategic success into more sumo games in the future.

Congratulations to Argentina, the team who beat me when it mattered most.

And the refiojis deserve a special shout-out for putting up with all of us. Perhaps I will join you in a future competition, now I know the rules well enough.
