Ganzohnesushi

1. Portugal (C), 2. France, 3. Netherlands (S2)
Comment: Gracias por nada España. Not only did they lose vs. Japan with their ridiculous Tiki-Taka and thus eliminating the German team en passant, but they also delivered an absolute subterranean performance vs. Morocco. Even England would have won the penalty shootout vs. Spain   (Laughing...)

Well, for someone who doesn't know anything about football, it seems that @Yarimotsu is almost "good to go" for the semi finals of Bench World Cup. :-)

Is he? A win from Portugal and it's over...

Well, when I wrote it Brazil wasn't a draw yet. Of course it's easier to say it after the result. That said don't be so sure that Portugal will win in regular time either Haven't we seen enough upsets already?

Anyway my main point was to mention that a player who isn't such a fan of football has reached so far in Bench World Cup :-)

For me it was clear that (almost) everyone would set Brazil at no. 1. Guess how I was rooting for Croatia to keep a clean sheet after 90 minutes. And now of all players it was Neymar who scored, for me the most unsympathetic person in football.

And yes, Portugal has not won yet. But it would be nice to win this fight with only 3 remaining teams vs. 6.

@Ganzohnesushi God, I just realized you are Yarimotsu's opponent, my mind was "somewhere else"! I understand all much better now. ;-)
Well I won't debate about Neymar as I'm a Paris St Germain fan, he has his flaws as qualities as every man.
Anyway I have no problem with a Portugal win (or all my Portuguese friends will kill me!). May the best (luckiest?) of you win !

Woohooo! Brazil is out. Yes, sometimes they can play fantastic, but there is always some arrogant attitude shown by the Brazilian team. That's why I don't like them and thus I have not picked them in my team. Now I'll have a beer. Prost!

I was hoping you would set your teams in that order so I could guarantee my chain to continue if Brazil did not lose in 90 minutes. Now if Portugal do not lose in 90 minutes I will need England and Argentina to win for me to be clearly ahead, but I'm not sure who wins if we go 1-1. Penalties, I guess.

For the record I'm not exactly a fan of Brazil either, I just thought their team would do well.

Many years of Refiojiing taught me not to predict what will happen (in the Bench WC) after the 1st match played.

Same here, and I know it's not good sportsmanship to enjoy Neymar's weeping, but I can't help it. B-)

Could you imagine a World Cup Final Argentina - Portugal with Leo on one side and CR7 on the other? That would be something historical. Regardless the debates about their age and current performances.

That's exactly what one of my mates predicted two days ago...

...and now imagine Ronaldo sitting on the bench the whole game. B-)

Nothing historical, as we had such constellations already in the past, i.e. 1954 Ferenc Puskas/Fritz Walter, in 1974 Franz Beckenbauer/Johann Cruyff and 1990 Lothar Matthäus/Diego Armando Maradona.

To be fair, Matthäus wasn't much of legend in 1990 yet.

How many of these awards were really deserved? Ask Robert Lewandowski or Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ferenc Puskas alone would have earned 5 or 6 awards, but after WW II there was nothing.
