Is it just me, or does anyone else think Chiyosakae looks a bit like Kaisei?

Jokoryu for me. The cheeks just scream him imo

Jokoryu's cheeks have the better definition.  The difference in the mawashi coloration creates an illusion which favors the appearance of Chiyosakae's cheeks.

I can see hints of Kaisei around the eyes, but Jokoryu is the stronger resemblance overall, yes.

In future, Naruto-oyakata really ought to pose for these kind of photos in a seated posture: otherwise will he just make his boys look short.

I noticed the same thing: 187 cm (6'2") vs 202 cm (6'8").  When Murayama (168 cm) joined Narutobeya, I thought the picture was showing Naruto congratulating a 4th-grade amasumo champ.

I found it interesting that two stables are getting their first sekitori in the same basho. The previous occurrence of this was in Aki 1993 when Tamanoi's Ohidake and Ajigawa (now Isegahama)'s Mutsuhokkai were promoted. I didn't bother searching further than that (DB queries I used: 1 and 2)

I can only read katakana, so - I presume the bottom left stat is something like genki-ness? Interesting that he gives himself a negative value in mentality, but I imagine every single rikishi ever will rate themselves as extremely genki, but with lots of room for improvement on the mental side, because those are the values they're expected to hold.

Now also the oldest juryo debutant to finish kachikoshi. The previous record holder was Kotokuni, 9th on the overall age list at 30y 5m.

You beat me to it. Kotokuni had a pair of nice 9-6 records before crumbling.

I actually don't expect much more from Chiyosakae, but then again I'd never expected him to get there in the first place. Anyway it was enjoyable to watch him even flirt with a double-digit score after starting 1-3.

For a moment I thought they set a new speed record in announcing the juryo promotions for the next basho....

Oshoma looked on his way to KK before COVID struck Naruto as well, could've been 4 KK out of 4 promotions (and KK for all new juryo). Would've been quite the feat.

I just hope he stays in juryo for Aki, it would be sad if he was delegated back to Makushita and taking from Kotooshu his sekitori
