Guess Hokutofuji's Aite - May 2022 edition

Recommended Posts

Yo, that Kiribayama pick was straight up voodoo. I checked damn near a decade of banzukes where there was something close to 1Y/3O in the basho, and just about every time M3E had a maegashira fight between his ozeki fights at this point in the event, one of those high ranks had dropped out, so I figured that borked up the scheduling somehow. If none of them dropped, the fights vs. ozekis almost always happened in a row (with the yokozuna fight somewhere in there, when relevant). Even if I figured some even day magic was at work and it wouldn't be the last ozeki, nothing I saw would have pointed to 2E being the opponent.

So... grats to you all, but also we might need to set up some witch stakes.

Keep in mind this game is called "GUESS Hokutofuji's Aite", and not "Logically conclude who will be Hokutofuji's aite".  There's nothing wrong with the picks that everyone else has, and they'd be my second pick.  But I'm guessing things will go slightly differently.

That's what I play, though this basho has been more guess as we see what this new committee does in certain situations.

It was less about whom M3E faces, and more about putting together the rest of the torikumi.

Seems a little early for that to come into play.

Is the arasoi the committee that does the scheduling?

10. Takakeisho, since it seems unlikely they don't fight, and if I'm wrong at least I'm wrong with all the torikumi ninjas.

Day 10 - Takakeisho

(although I thought long and hard about Takarafuji, I think it is too early to break the pattern)

The leaderboard.  As we get to the end of the tournament, that matters more.

10. takakeisho.

(To avoid going BG.  I'm still hopeful that I'll have time during the July basho to play.)

Gah! I had Takakeisho for Tobizaru instead of Mitakeumi, which would have made much more sense IMO.
