Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 Hey hey. I am new here. My real name is Jason Walker aka Kagamifuji Iumu. I was actually in Japan for around a year wrestling. I just wanted to say hello to everyone here. I also wanted to see what else is up in the world of Sumotori. I am sure many people dont know why I left sumo, and some may not care, but if you wan to know just ask. Your also probably thinking that i am just some dude pretending to be. I am not sure how to prove that i am who I am, but I'll try if anyone wants proof.

I have you as a Texan - still a teen now (17?) from Kagamiyama beya Went 3 tourneys in Jonokuchi and retired early 2003. Ever go against Kotooshu? (Yucky...) Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 Hey, how did you know all that ? Correct on all. I am 17 ,from Texas (well moved all over, but born in TX), and from Kagamiyama Beya. Ah, Kotooshu, very strong. I never went against him, but saw him go at it many many times in "sumo school" at the Kokugikan. There is also another very strong kid that was in sumo school with me from Mongolia, shikona is Arawashi (maybe it has changed). I miss it soo bad, sumo. I should never have left. i would go back in a heart-beat. What is your name by the way ? Where are you at ? how long have you been interested in sumo ? Hey can you try to find out which left and came back for me ? Couple of blokes in Europe / Israel will answer this - hang on a few hours till they wake up. (Yucky...) Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 hey, are you in Japan ? I have no clue how to arrange to go back. Before, when i first went, I just e-mailed all the stables and hoped for a reply in english. Thanks
Zentoryu 154 Posted October 18, 2004 You have no way of contacting your old stable or Oyakata?
Jonosuke 28 Posted October 18, 2004 hey, are you in Japan ? I have no clue how to arrange to go back. Before, when i first went, I just e-mailed all the stables and hoped for a reply in english. Thanks This may be rather bad news to you but as far as I know, once you leave the Kyokai, that's it. It's definitely your last act. Now occasionally an oyakata will hold off on your "resignation" paper to the Kyokai office so in that case you have a chance to go back because it's between you and him but once the office gets involved, that is the final. I know of no case of a former rikishi ever being returned to the Kyokai once he has left (however one can be a Banzuke-gai due to an injury or family problem etc but in this case basically you have not left, you are still in even though you are not listed in the banzuke). Sorry. There are many former rikishis continue to compete in various sumo tournaments so perhaps this is the area you can pursue. And you still are pretty young so perhaps a college sumo may be another avenue open for you.
Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 hey thanks all for replying. I have to go to school tomorrow, so I need sleep. i'll post more tomorrow. if someone would be soo kind as to find more info on wheather or not I could re-join a stable, i would very much appreciate it. i have heard of others leaving and coming back, so I'll give it a go. I'll give my story some time. good nite all from texas.
Kintamayama 41,309 Posted October 18, 2004 As Jonosoke already stated- no, no, no, no. No way anyone ever returns to the Kyokai after he is listed as intai. No way. Period. You can go back as an amateur, as a retail shop owner, as a baseball player, as a student. No Ozumo for you!!!
Kintamayama 41,309 Posted October 18, 2004 i think i read your story before somewhere. did you post it on the mailing list? No, that was RD Evans' story. He is a long time member of the forum.
Kintamayama 41,309 Posted October 18, 2004 don't always sit on the fence moti will ya! (Yucky...) seriously though give the guy some hope. if the forms are in, then its no of course, but we don't know what his oyakata did. He is listed on the Kyokai official site as intai, so the papers and everything else were filed. The kid asked, he should be given a straight answer, no?? ?There are no ifs and buts. It is clear cut. Life is cruel, long, short, and purple, as is my fence.
Kintamayama 41,309 Posted October 18, 2004 I am not sure how to prove that i am who I am, but I'll try if anyone wants proof. Why on earth should anyone doubt who you are???
Kintamayama 41,309 Posted October 18, 2004 The kid asked, he should be given a straight answer, no?? ?Life is long, short..... life is long AND short. VERY straight that answer. nah nah, nah nah nah i win. you lose. no comebacks. (Bleh!) I humbly surrender..
Onnagumo 4 Posted October 18, 2004 Hey hey. I am new here. My real name is Jason Walker aka Kagamifuji Iumu. I was actually in Japan for around a year wrestling. I am not sure how to prove that i am who I am, but I'll try if anyone wants proof. (Yucky...) I KNEW it! Yesterday I saw the name of the newest member and I thought: could it really be, is this the real Kagamifuji? I must admit, I immediately checked your profile (curious? Who, me? :-( ) and then I was almost certain..... Wow, another "insider" here! This forum is getting better and better! Welcome, and I hope you enjoy it here! and yes, being probably as far from the "real thing" as possible :-D (the Netherlands), I would love to hear more about life in a heya So, whenever you feel like it.... please do tell us about it. Fujisan 500 Posted October 18, 2004 Well welcome aboard anyway Kagamifuji- (Neener, neener...) Personally I like the prospect of talking to anyone whos been there and done that even if you didn't stick around for the final bout so to speak. (Clapping wildly...) Manekineko 200 Posted October 18, 2004 Welcome, Kagamifuji! I don't know about others, but I heard of you on sumo ML at the time you joined your stable. It really is a pity that you joined Ozumo perhaps too young to adapt well to life in sumo world... If you wish, please tell us some details of how you joined, what it was like, etc. It is interesting to hear such details from an insider!
Yangnomazuma 59 Posted October 18, 2004 Welcome Kagamifuji! Options abound, if not the one your heart tugs you toward. I guess, however, that I'll be the (Clapping wildly...) nosy one and ask...why'd you leave. Given your current location, I have a theory, but it's probably far from the reality. BTW, I'm Army stationed about 3 hours west of you in San Angelo....
Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 who is RD evans ? and what is his story ? I will make sure to post my story some time. its too bad I cant go back. I wish there were a way. Its not being nosy to ask why I left. hey whats your theory, humor me, come on.
Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 man how do you guys know soo much about sumo ? is there any other ex-rikishi on this board ?
Zentoryu 154 Posted October 18, 2004 (edited) man how do you guys know soo much about sumo ? is there any other ex-rikishi on this board ? Aside from you and Ryan Evans (who hasn't posted here in a long time), no. There's just a lot of people on this board who have been following Sumo for years and years. Ryan is a former sumo wrestler like yourself (also from Texas I believe) who came back after a tryout with one of the stables (Tomozuna I think). Welcome aboard, BTW. Its not being nosy to ask why I left. hey whats your theory, humor me, come on. There were guesses (injury, homesick, etc) about why you left that went around here and the Sumo Mailing List at the time of your intai, but they were just theories. No one knew what had really happened to you. We just knew that you had retired and that was it. Edited October 18, 2004 by Zentoryu
Kagamifuji Iumu 1 Posted October 18, 2004 I'll let everyone know why i left soon. hey man, my dad is stationed at Fort Hood, TX. Let me know more about your self and maybe we can meet, i'll tell some cool stories. Anyway, anyone know more about Ryan Evans ? age ? stats ?
