Terunofuji was made an Ozeki back in 2015. He lost his rank through injury in 2017, and then descended all the way down to Jonidan in 2019. 2021 saw the culmination of an amazing comeback, when he won four yushos, and was promoted to Yokozuna.

Please expand on your votes in the comments below - this will be used in the case of tie-breakers required at the end of the year to decide the yusho.

He'll get three yusho but at some stage the knees are going to come back to bite him and then it will be kyujo / mediocre performance until he intais in 2023

Kinboshi to Abi, Hoshoryu, Ura and Kiribayama

Teru's year will be interrupted and he may be considering retirement towards September/November but will not make the decision before December.

After seven days of action, Terunofuji has only won once by yorikiri - so lower predictions might be good here... (chishafuwaku went with the lowest prediction).

Nobody predicted in the comments the kinboshi (already given) after the first week of the hatsu-basho for Tamawashi! But chishafuwaku is out of the running, as he went for 'zero' for the year.

We know that hatsu-basho will not be a zensho yusho for him, but the other questions are still very open.

More in November (or December!) - if not before, if something important happens before then....

Well, I think that we can close this poll early....

Terunofuji won by Yorikiri the following number of times in each basho in 2022....

Jan - 5
Mar - 2
May - 3
Jul - 3
Sep - 2
Nov - 0

Total = 15

Nobody came even vaguely close. chishafuwaku did best with 23, with next closest being Kashunowaka on 26. Everybody else had at least double that number.

Terunofuji gave away the following kinboshis is 2022..... (Losses by fusensho do not count as a kinboshi)

Jan - 2 (Tamawashi and Abi)
Mar - 2 (Daieisho and Tamawashi)
May - 2 (Tamawashi and Takanosho)
Jul - 1 (Ichinojo)
Sep - 4 (Tobizaru, Tamawashi, Ura and Takayasu)
Nov - 0

Total = 11 (four from Tamawashi!)

Again, nobody came close. Morty and Tsuchinoninjin came closest with six. Everybody else went for at least half the real total.

Nobody mentioned Tamawashi.
just_some_guy got two out of three correct...
Kashunowaka = 2/4
Kintamayama = 1/4
hakutorizakura = 2/3
chishafuwaku = 0/0
Athenayama = 1/2
Shatsume = 2/4
Pitinosato = 0/1
WAKATAKE = 2/4
Yarimotsu = 1/4

Questions...
1. No Zensho Yushos
2. He won only one yusho
3. He won the yusho or jun-yusho in only two yushos
4. He was not involved in any ketei-sen
5. His lowest ranked opponent this year was M6W Abi, all the way back in January.
6. His worst record when he appeared every day on the dohyo was 11-4 (twice)
7. He went kyujo in the middle of two bashos.
8. He did not appear on the shonichi torikumi in one basho (November)
9. He lost four times to Tamawashi! (He lost twice to Abi and Daieisho - but nobody else more than once)
10. He has not gone intai

It's going to take me some time to work out the scores - which I don't have at present - so come back here to see who is the winner at a later date!

Okay, special mention to Benihana for being the only player to get question 2 correct, and again to WAKATAKE for being the only player to get question 9 correct.

Over half of entrants only got only 4 out of 10 correct.

With 5, Kashunowaka, did as good as a coin toss.

With 6, chishafuwaku, just_some_guy, hakutorizakura, Benihana and WAKATAKE all got 6 correct.

But, easy winner was Morty with 8 correct.

As @Morty also came (joint) closest with question 2, he is the winner of the yusho! (Yushowinner...)
