Once again this has been chaotic trying to sort this out, and literally everyone is in contention for the yusho. At this point it definitely looks like we are heading into a major showdown for senshuraku. The top 5 players all lost, while the bottom two players won. WAKATAKE jumps from 6th to 2nd place based on his record, while leader Holleshoryu barely holds onto his lead due to the tiebreaker. Fujisan unfortunately missed his submission, dampening his chances for the yusho. WAKATAKE also got his second bonus game ginboshi

Holleshoryu and WAKATAKE could not score wins, and this yusho race literally cannot sort itself out after 14 days. ALL SEVEN PLAYERS ARE MATHEMATICALLY IN THE YUSHO RACE!!! Four players are 7-7, but the three 6-8 players can still win with a lot of results that have to go the right way for them, based on their 6-0 tiebreakers. Each yusho scenario will be down below according to the current rankings:

@chishafuwaku yusho
Condition #1 - If 8-7 and tied with Holleshoryu and/or WAKATAKE, needs both players to finish with a 4-2 result
Condition #2 - If 8-7 and tied with Athenayama at 8-7, needs Athenayama to finish with a 5-1 or 4-2 result
Condition #3 - If 7-8, needs to tie with Holleshoryu, WAKATAKE and Athenayama
Condition #4 - If 7-8, CANNOT tie with Jejima, Tameiki or Fujisan

@Athenayama yusho
Condition #1 - MUST finish 8-7
Condition #2 - If chishafuwaku, Holleshoryu and/or WAKATAKE are 8-7, needs to finish with a 6-0 result, and the other three cannot have a 6-0 result

@Jejima yusho

Condition #2 - chishafuwaku, Holleshoryu, WAKATAKE and Athenayama all need to finish 7-8
Condition #3 - If condition #2 is met, and Tameiki and/or Fujisan also finish 7-8, needs them to have a 5-1 or 4-2 result

@Tameiki yusho

I double checked, triple checked, and quadruple checked to make sure that the results are correct. The first thing that was confirmed was that chishafuwaku and WAKATAKE getting winning scores on day 15 eliminated Jejima, Tameiki and Fujisan from the yusho race. Holleshoryu and Athenayama were not able to get winning scores on the final day, so they were also eliminated. So it came down to the tiebreaker between chishafuwaku and WAKATAKE. chishafuwaku finished with a 4-2, while WAKATAKE finished with a 5-1 score. This was WAKATAKE's 4th time getting a 5-1 score versus chisha getting it three times.

The yusho goes to WAKATAKE, the 2nd for him this game! I have to say that this was the most suspenseful of all the East vs West games played so far, where all players had a chance at the yusho going into senshuraku. A big thank you to all the players who joined this time, I really hope we can get more people to play in 2022!

Banzuke and sansho coming soon

  • Thanks 1

The game this time again was very unpredictable, and there was only banzuke shuffling for the KK players and the players who finished 6-9. The three 7-8 players kept their ranks. @wolfgangho and @Shinobi Steve were kyujo and are now banzuke-gai, here's hoping we see them again someday. We are left with seven players, but given how the any types of records can come up in the game, I will keep the banzuke format for now.

Yusho and sansho:

Yusho --> WAKATAKE (8-7)
Jun-Yusho --> @chishafuwaku (8-7)
Shukun-Sho --> not awarded because neither KK players got main game kinboshi
Kanto-Sho --> WAKATAKE (8-7) had 35 correct guesses for Jonokuchi through Makushita combined
Gino-Sho --> chishafuwaku (8-7) had the lowest combined margin of error at 27
Kinboshi (main game) --> @Jejima (day 2)
Kinboshi (bonus game) --> @Tameiki (day 1, day 13), @Holleshoryu (day 2, day 4)
Ginboshi (bonus game) --> @Athenayama (day 3, day 14), WAKATAKE (day 11, day 13)
Diamond Star --> not awarded
Chanko-Sho --> Jejima and chishafuwaku with 15 margin of error for Makuuchi
Sukiyaki-Sho --> Jejima and chishafuwaku with 10 margin of error for Juryo
Gyudon-Sho --> Jejima, chishafuwaku and Athenayama with 2 margin of error for Makushita
Wolf-Sho --> Tameiki (day 1, day 3), Holleshoryu (day 2, day 7), @Fujisan (day 6), Jejima (day 7), chishafuwaku (day 7)
Hat Trick (Holle-Sho) --> not awarded

Award highlights:

- Jejima gets his 4th Chanko-Sho to extend the record
- Jejima gets his 6th Sukiyaki-Sho to extend the record
- Jejima gets his 7th Gyudon-Sho to extend the record
- WAKATAKE gets his 7th and 8th bonus Ginboshi to extend the record
