Wakanohana finally slew his duck last basho by predicting lone yokozuna Terunofuji's victory. With Terunofuji again the lone yokozuna atop the banzuke after Hakuho's retirement, is it a clear route to two in a row for Wakanohana?

By looking at his previous guesses, Wakanohana mostly watches at the results of the previous tournament alone and has a clear bias in favour of san'yaku rikishi. It seems to me he usually picks either a high scorer or a "hungry" san'yaku which has not won a basho in a while. Given that the present san'yaku all gave unimpressive results aside from Terunofuji, and that Terunofuji comes from a row of three yusho and a runner-up, in my opinion he will pick Terunofuji once again.

About the actual outcome... well, I believe that Terunofuji is hardly a machine. I'm not saying he cannot win (I concur he's the favourite), but something smells off, just my guts. Let's say this: if Wakanohana picks him, my money (ten cents at most) is on Terunofuji NOT winning the next basho.

Welp, no one picked the right rikishi this time - to be fair, Daieisho was really out of left field, not being anywhere near the yusho-winning form for most of the year. That leaves congratulations due to the four people who guessed that Wakanohana would guess wrong: WAKATAKE, Hankegami, sahaven111 and I am the Yokozuna.
