Some words from Canary Islands

Recommended Posts

After more than a year and a half following this forum, finally I decided to join.

Let me present myself as a Spaniard with deep Japanese roots (yes, my mother is Japanese, so I'm a so called NISEI), but only get really interested in Sumo after following a complete Basho in Eurosport (now I don't remember very well which one was this first one but I think it's Aki 2001, 'cause I never saw Terao fighting live and remember I have seen Kotomitsuki winning a basho), even though I remind to have seen even some clips of the wolf (Chiyonofuji) and a rising Akebono on a Gillette Sport Special more than a decade ago.

I'm actually living at Canary Islands, more specifically at Tenerife Island the greatest one of the archipelago, and ...

I hope to chat with all of you and to extend a little bit more talking about me, see you later ... :-)

Hiya. Wow Canary Islands. I'd love to visit there some day. By the way has your mother ever appeared on a Japanese TV program a while back? I just seem to recall there was this program that showed successful Japanese women around the world.

Anyway I remember that 2001 Aki more than most. I do recall Kotomitsuki slamming down Kaiho on the dohyo on Day 14 to secure his first Yusho. I can't believe it's that so long ago that Kotomitsuki got a Yusho...

Good to see your post!

So you speak three languages?

Jejeje Fuji San

Here, at Tenerife we also have our own and particular Mount Fuji, its name is Monte Teide (3718 m height, the tallest of SPAIN Mountains).

And yes, you are right, the weather is very soft, thanks to the northeast trade winds and the Atlantic Ocean cold Canary current, giving what we call an eternal spring time.

But ... I'm not trying to seed hatred, all the contrary, anytime you believe you could be here I'll be waiting for you and I hope I can guide you to our local customs (for example, we have a kind of fighting known LUCHA CANARIA, is similar to a mixture of Judo and Grecoromana, and ... SUMO (at least the part related with losing whenever any other part of the body except the feet plants touches ground)

Jeje, just waiting for a similar offer !!! (Showing respect...)

I am afraid you will have a long wait for me to visit due to major financial restraints- (Depressed...)

I am enjoying my holiday right now in the Scottish Outer hebrides where it is even colder than in Grimsby. (In a bad mood...) (Depressed...)

Thanks for the offer though.
