nagora 88 Posted October 27, 2021 Simple enough question: can two wrestlers from the same heya meet on the last day or only in playoffs? Has there ever been a period with two active Yokozuna from the same heya?

Only in playoffs. 14 minutes ago, nagora said: Has there ever been a period with two active Yokozuna from the same heya? Yes - most recently the brothers Takanohana and Wakanohana in the late 90s, and before them, Chiyonofuji and Hokutoumi both hailed from Kokonoe-beya about a decade earlier. There may be other examples I'm sure.

Has there ever been a period with two active Yokozuna from the same heya? The -nohana brothers for sure, in the 90's (Futagoyama), and Chiyonofuji-Hokotoumi in the 80's (Kokonoe). I think Takanosato and Wakanohana Kanji just missed being Yokozuna at the same time in the 80's. [Also Onishiki Uichiro, Tsunenohana and Tochigiyama overlapped but not at the same time in the 20's (Dewanoumi)] Edited October 27, 2021 by Yamanashi I found more

Hokutoumi had an excellent fighting spirit as I recall.
