And his family name is Nakasone.

Proof that my hiragana got very rusty, perhaps?  D'oh!

Here is a table with some updated Shikona (from NSK website).  I added birthdays, school info (where available),

We always have all the info like this each time if you want it.

That would be useful to share in the tables for the data-focused folk among us.  Data on the new entrants is useful for those of us with our own databases, so we can add them to the system.  I often rely on threads like these to piece together the data until it appears officially somewhere else. For the most part, the threads capture the relevant information.  In the first post, we had age (but no specific birthday).  And for those of us looking to flag future prospects, the high school/university info is also useful (if/when available).  It seems that the thread captures most of the high school info out there, particularly if a new entrant is from a solid/famous program.  Other times, even university grads fall through the cracks (likely due to lack of much impact on their team or in any tournament).  For instance, there is no discussion of Arise here.  About a year ago, there was little/no discussion of Fujiseun and Sugaro(Fujitoshi) when they first joined and they both rose to makushita quite quickly.

In other words - a pre-emptive thank you!

One for Sadogatake-beya: Tomoki Funo 布野智希 (15) from Shimane pref. The oyakata scouted him in 5th grade primary school.

"I want to rise up the banzuke" o

"One dream has come true. I want to gambarize to become able to get kachikoshi."

http://www.chugoku-np.co.jp/articles/-/151406

He had a farewell party on the 31st in Izumo, where he graduated from the Taisha (Grand Shrine) middle school

Funo was in the judo club of his school, which has no sumo club. He was told by the teacher that he could do keiko there. Since 3rd grade primary school he went to the Hikawa sumo dojo in Izumo. Last year he won a prefectural tournament, both the individuals and with the team, of members from different schools. At the national tournament he lost in the first round though. Kotofuno aims to become like (the present) Kotonowaka. http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASQ4P0C1WQ30PTIB00Q.html

The oyakata was also there. Funo is the youngest of 3 children, I guess the 2 behind him are brother and sister

What a wonderful name: Taketo Arise !!!

I hope Taketo will arise !

Imagine his first name would start with an "R" instead of a "T"...

Not much was reported about him, Arise was the captain of the Tonodai sumo team and is one of 2 new recruits from Oita, the other is Sato http://www3.nhk.or.jp/lnews/oita/20220425/5070012483.html

Onomatsu-beya introduced their lower-profile second shindeshi from the Haru class - Daishimatsu has been involved in judo since the first year of junior high school. He graduated from Yachiyo Nishi High School in Chiba prefecture in March, and it was the judo club coach there who suggested he give sumo a try.

His shikona combines kanji from the shisho (Daido), his family name (Shimura) and the heya (Onomatsu).

The 4 from Nishonoseki-beya - interesting to see who's one of Nakamura/Yoshikaze's boys, Sato wears his high school kesho mawashi, the other 3 one of Kisenosato - proper ones for tiger Rinko and dragon Hayashiryu (Dragonball style, with a Hello Kitty tiger as well), Watanabe maybe with some connection as well

Sato is basically Yoshikaze's protege at this point. Same high school, same sumo club. Hell, Sato won a National High School Speech competition talking about Yoshikaze

That's quite impressive for someone that's also a talented athlete.  It reminds me of placing 13th in the state in impromptu speaking in High School while missing a high school baseball game, and driving from the other side of the state where the speech competition was to get to the second game of the double header.  I remember getting to the game site as the first game was almost over and watching the guy who replaced me in the outfield drop the ball.  I can't guarantee that happened, but that's what I remember.  (Also, I dropped my share of fly balls too; it was a small school and most everyone who wanted to play did.)
