Kaminariyuki 484 Posted August 26, 2021 (edited) Well, I can almost hear the drums outside the kokugikan calling us in. The yobidashi have their hyoshigi all ready and we'll have the banzuke on Monday. Washuyama and Hakuhonofan set a pretty tough mark to beat last basho in Nagoya, but let's see if anyone is game to give this a go again. Please pick the yusho winner and the jun-yusho. Anything else you care to toss in is only icing on the cake, or an anchor dragging you to the bottom. I still like getting all you experts down on digital paper before this thing kicks off. Kaminariyuki 484 Posted August 26, 2021 I usually stick my neck out first, but I forgot. I reckon I'll go out on a limb again. Yusho - Ura Jun-yusho - Ichinojo Hakuho intai, Terunofuji kyujo on Day 8. Let the Ura yokozuna bandwagon roll on! 1

Tigerboy1966 948 Posted August 26, 2021 Yusho: Terunofuji Jun-yusho: Meisei Icing: Juryo yusho goes to the winner of an Enho - Hokuseiho playoff.

Churaumi 680 Posted August 27, 2021 Hakuho gets 46, Terunofuji keeps it exciting with the day 15 match for the yusho but he loses. Bonus prediction is Hokuseiho goes makekoshi.
Gospodin 162 Posted August 27, 2021 Yusho: Hakuho Jun-Yusho: Terunofuji (only because of the social committments coming with his promotion reducing/changing his preparation) Most intriguing to watch: Hoshoryu, Takaysu (will he be able to mount another run or will he ultimately begin an irreversible decline ?) rokudenashi 150 Posted August 27, 2021 (edited) Following what my head tells me and not my heart (a Hoshoryu yusho would be great, though) Yusho: Hakuho, perhaps via another zensho Jun-yusho: Takakeisho Ginosho: Hoshoryu Shukunsho: Hoshoryu Kantosho: Takanosho Terunofuji to go kyujo after the first week. Takayasu will struggle, belying his performances at the godo-keiko. Now to contradict my first statement, I'll go out on a limb and suggest that Hokuseiho wins the Juryo yusho Edited August 27, 2021 by rokudenashi

I feel better that Gooogle also has no idea who or what Shonanzak is.

Mightyduck 67 Posted August 30, 2021 Yusho - Terunofuji Jun-yusho - Hakuho Hopefully after a day 15 playoff. Takakeisho to make-koshi Shodai to barely kachikoshi after some slightly helpful final weekend matchmaking. Takaysu & mitakeumi to both hover around the 10 win mark.

Jesinofuji 11 Posted September 1, 2021 Yusho: Terunofuji 12-3. Jun Yushos: Mitakeumi and Takakeisho both also 12-3. Teru wins a 3 man playoff that goes 3 rounds! Hakuho pulls out of the tournament sometime in the first week.
Octofuji 139 Posted September 1, 2021 Takayasu yusho, Hoshoryu jun-yusho. Would be nice to see both Yokozuna last til the end but I don't see it.

Godango 753 Posted September 1, 2021 Yusho: Takakeisho Jun-Yusho: Terunofuji Bonus: Single digit wins for Tochinoshin -- this will be his last (maybe second-to-last) basho in makuuchi. Given the recent COVID-19 infections I'm beginning to question whether the basho goes ahead at all, tbh, but I'm sticking with the above.
